Today's been a long day. I arrived at Disneyland for Magic Morning, and within a few hours I went on the Subs, Space Mountain, Autopia, Mr Toad, Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, and Big Thunder. The submarine voyage is definitely a cool ride, but it's too long (and the wait is too long) for me to do it again. Space Mountain was really cool as usual. It actually broke down for a short time in the morning, but the problem was fixed quickly.
I rode Autopia while Space Mountain was broken. Autopia is much better than the Indy Speedway. It feels longer and there's definitely more to see. During several points on the ride, I had good views of the Rocket Rods track. It breaks my heart how the Peoplemover is nonexistant in Disneyland right now. Also, that flower/satellite thing in the former Astro Orbiter location really freaks me out...especially when it rotates just like Astro Orbiter! They definitely need to fix Tomorrowland here.
Mr Toad is a cool dark ride, but to be honest I prefer MK's Winnie the Pooh. Also, MK's Haunted Mansion is better than DL's for me. At DL's stretch room, the floor goes down; I was able to feel this, so the effect didn't work for me. Also, the ghost host doesn't move around in the stretch room and the beginning of the ride feels shorter. I wish there was a way to make the two HMs more equal. To be fair, DL's Leota moves in a circle while MK's (as I remember) only moves up and down, so Leota is better in DL.
Splash Mountain was a lot of fun. This morning was cloudy and pretty chilly, so there was no line at all. I sat in the front, and I got soaked! I liked the single-file seating, but I prefer holding on to something in front of me as opposed to bars on the side. Big Thunder was really fun as well. I sat in the back, so it was a little bit more thrilling than usual. With my ride on Splash Mountain, I've conquered Disneyland's mountain range...now if only I could gather the courage to ride DCA's thrill rides!
I stopped for lunch at the French Market in New Orleans Square. This is a great quick service restaurant! I got the French Quarter Dip (steak sandwich with steak fries and jus). It was incredible for a quick service restaurant! After that, I left the park and headed to Disney's California Adventure. There, I rode Monsters Inc, Grizzly River Run, Orange Stinger, and Jumpin Jellyfish.
Monsters Inc is like a typical dark ride with some cool effects. Roz is definitely a cool AA. Grizzly River Run is more wet than Kali River Rapids and it has an extra drop, but I prefer Kali because the atmosphere is great (Southeast Asian rainforest, jasmine scents, etc). Paradise Pier is...interesting. I'm too scared to ride California Screamin or Maliboomer, so I rode some of the cheap rides. They weren't extraordinary at all, but they were fun.
Dinner was at Napa Rose. I had salad and steak, and both were good. Then I returned to Disneyland Park. I rode Big Thunder Mountain once, Indiana Jones once, and Space Mountain three more times. BTM was quite scary this time. I was in the back, it was night, and it was raining (rain makes the runaway train illusion much scarier). Indiana Jones was fun again, but wow the queue is long! Even with fastpass, it took about 20 minutes to get on the ride.
Space Mountain is still my favorite ride. Half the time I requested to sit in the front for a better view, but half the time I was in the back for a rougher experience. I haven't gotten tired of it, and I'm sure that I will ride it several times more over the next two days. Will update with more information later.
