Welcome to the boards! :)
I am the type to do tons of research, so before my first trip, I read every single page of allearsnet.com. I also bought the unofficial guide to wdw and read it cover to cover several times. I was able to find things that suited me that way.
How long will your trip be?

This site is pretty user-friendly, and has some generalized sections on dining, tips and strategies, etc. It doesn't cover every little thing, but it's a great place to start and not get overwhelmed:

http://www.everythingwdisneyworld.com/

If you want the whole enchilada, however -- customizable touring plans and summaries of every restaurant and attraction on WDW property -- try a subscription to touringplans.com or find the "Unofficial Guide to WDW" at a bookstore or even your local library. Also, print some maps of the parks and start to get familiar with the layout.

I always say to plan, but don't overplan. Disney has a ton of things bewteen all the theme parks, water parks, Downtown Disney, and recreational activities. Figure out what places you plan to visit and then prioritize what you want to do and see and maybe where you want to eat or shop. For example, at Animal Kingdom, my priorites are Expedition Everest, Kilimanjaro Safari ride, the Finding Nemo stage show, and the Festival of the Lion King stage show. I make those 4 things a priority and then I do whatever else sounds interesting while there. Don't get upset if you miss something!

I don't know a lot about the nightlife because I am usually putting my kids to bed at 8pm! :)

Eliott Dyson plays Wed-Sat at Scat Cats and is Awesome!! If you are looking for more nightlife I would suggest the Boardwalk. POFQ is my favorite resort! Enjoy!!

Welcome, this site is fantastic for info & tips. Plan whats important to you & prioritize what you must do. There is http://www.thedibb.co.uk/ for info too which gives loads of advice for us British Disney travelers. Research the other resort areas as you might want to visit them too. 1 tip we always stick by is to plan pool/shopping days. Have a great time.

So exciting, your first visit in just 2 weeks! You must be bursting with excitement!

POFQ is one of the more quiet resorts, not one of the places I usually think of for nightlife. Epcot's World Showcase might be your best bet but this closes at 9 PM. After Epcot closes, you could consider a short walk to the Boardwalk, which has a small entertainment district. The exit to the Boardwalk is between the U.K. and France pavilions in the World Showcase. Just ask a Disney cast member for directions if you are unsure. The other place to try at night is Downtown Disney. You could consider taking the monorail outside of the Magic Kingdom and explore the 3 resorts (Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian).

If you stay out too late, you might need to catch a cab (all the hotels have them) to get back to POFQ. It's a relatively short dive and isn't too expensive.
