So we will be going on another vacation to the world in November. We usually stay at POP, but came to an agreement to stay at POR. It will be our first time at Port Orleans Riverside. I just wanted to get any info i can from anyone who has stayed there.
What are the bus stops like?
The pools?
Foodcourt?
How are the rooms?
The atmosphere?
Is it much different from staying at a value? Since its what we are used to.

I'd appreciate any info at all from those who have stayed there. thanks a lot!

The only real down side to POR (which could be said about all moderates) is the walking. Depending on where your room is, you're walking quite a distance to the bus stop, foodcourt and front desk. It's really not a huge deal as long as you know what to expect. Other than that, it's a great resort. We're going to try POFQ in September, just for a change of pace.

Though there is some walking, it's not as much as the CS, or the values (I've heard - never stayed at values). Also I've heard that the values are much harder to get in and out of by bus.

Altogether, if you're used to values, you will LOVE POR. Don't forget to visit the FQ while you are there. They have entertainment some nights at the bar. Ask which nights when you do your planning - you may have to call the hotel directly. I advise taking the boat down, and strolling back. If you're really tired, I think you can take the park busses back, because I believe they stop at FQ first, then POR. Again, ask at the hotel.

Have a great time!

I too am staying at POR for the first time in August. Glad to hear everybody likes it. I have always stayed at the value resorts, so this will be new to me.

We stayed at POR for our honeymoon in January at the recommendation of everyone on these boards. It really is a lovely resort. I won't go through the list of reasons why we love because most, if not all, have been listed here already. Be sure to check out the bathrooms in between the general store and the bar. The toilets are the "old-fashioned raised tank with chain" style. Yet another cool Disney Detail.

I love PO... you will love it... I've never stayed at a value--I could not bring myself to do it becaues they look way too motel-y for me... but I love the moderates... I think you will be extremely pleased.... I think you'll find the grounds much mroe expansive and that you are more immersed in the theming... The food court at RS is fantastic and the one at FQ is okay... I have stayed at both locations of the resort... and though I do like the theming of FQ...I think RS has a better pool and better theming over all.

Bus service was always fine from both sides... and I always loved the riveboat service to DTD.

Have fun! Youll love it!

Only people who are well familiar with the show "Little House on the Prairie" will get the humor of what I am about to say, but everytime I see toilets like those, I can't help remember that episode where the Olsen's decided to install those in their house...and what happened the first time Mrs Olsen tried it out! :ROFLOL:

We went over to visit this resort on our last trip since we also decided we will be staying here on our next. We went to Boatwrights for dinner and all I can say if you like to eat Jambalaya you must get it from there. It was so good with the cornbread. The carriage ride we did after dinner was very relaxing and being able to see the entire resort as well as the pool was very nice. Have a great stay. :king:

Our family's favorite for the price! Only Polynesian has a better atmosphere. We always rent a car instead of using buses and have easy access to Epcot especially. We have stayed at POR three times as a family. Have stayed at Acadian House (mansion area) each time. On our next trip we may try to get an Alligator Bayou house closer to main building.
