We are staying at the all star movie and I am just wondering, since we are staying for two weeks and I will be eating everywhere and anywhere -is there a gym where I can work off some of that food? If anybody knows please share with me. Thank you

Believe it or not, I usually go to WDW with a meal plan and eat ridiculous amounts of yummy food, but I normally lose weight because of all the walking. Mr. Lawyergirl, however, desperately needed the services of the gym at the WL because he is used to burning at least 3,000 calories a day at his job (needles to say, he is not a desk jockey like me).

In the end, the gyms are nice for people for whom walking 5-10 miles a day is a restful experience for them, but you may not need them (and find that your body will protest doing any more activity!!!)

Slight drift: Thanks for the info JPVonDrake!!! Mr. Lawyergirl didn't want to go to AKL unless they had a gym and now I get to have coffee while staring at a giraffe!!! :sohappy:

I ditto the Resort loop. If you want to have a really fun workout and like to walk, one of the best things is to do what we called the Epcot loop (what we did as CPers about once a week). This is about a 3 mile total trip if our calculations are right. Also, you can double any of the routes to add to the length. First, hit the Epcot entrance at about 10:45, walk up and hang a right toward M:S, loop down in front of UofE and walk in front of the attractions, going up by Oddyssey. Take bridge up next to Mexico to the WS Promenade. WS should have just opened and not be very crowded yet. Loop down back towad FW and walk all around WS from Canada to Mexico. After you reach Mexico again, walk back up past Canada and UK to the IG (be sure to have your passes). Exit the park and walk to the Beach/Yacht Club. Make a circle around the Crecent Lake walkway. Re-Enter Epcot. Come back in, and complete your WS loop (i.e. France to Mexico). When you reach Mexico, loop back through the Rose Garden, past IMAG, Land, and Seas. Re-Enter Innoventions Plaza, grab a quick bottled water, and hop onto SSE for a well-deserved rest.

Great way to start the morning and get some exercise.

I have never gone to WDW and not lost weight! I eat like a pig, but the walking and activity, which is constant, is the best calorie burn on the planet.

I always admire those folks who can jog or exercise in WDW - my feet are so completely destroyed after a day or two in the parks that I can't even imagine walking even more in a non-park context!

Hey, Tim, any chance you can upgrade to the Coronado? It's a mod resort, but it has a gym, and then you won't pay extra for the use of it. Plus, then you'll have a slightly larger room, more recreational activities available, a restaurant at your resort in case you're too tired to go out night, etc.

I also bring it up because the All-Star rooms, while they look really cute, are also pretty darn small. I don't know how many people you're traveling with, but if it's more than 2, you might find it too close for comfort for so long, though I'm sure you'll find people here who would disagree with me...
Can I ask what kinds of admission tickets you have? If you have length-of-stay passes (I think they're called Disney Your Way now?), you might want to check and see if one person in your party can switch/upgrade to an annual pass. You can still get all of the same visiting privileges to all the parks, water parks & Pleasure Island, PLUS a chance of getting a pretty nice discount on the room too. The discount will vary, depending on when you're going. If it's late summer, for example (after July 4th), I think you could get 25 dollars off an All-Star Resort room, but 50 off of a moderate resort room, like Coronado. If you already have an annual pass, and are already getting a room discount, then I apologize for the sales shpiel. But if not, then explore your options and have fun...

Incidentally, I tend to run/jog/walk up to 35 miles a week, usually. I probably gained a pound or two each time I visited, but for the amount of food I'm socking away, a pound or two is nothing. You really do burn a goodly amount of calories walking around, and if you wind up doing any other sorts of activities (most notably swimming) that helps even more. IF you can't bump up to Coronado, then just consider trying to swim some laps early or late in the day, when the pool is (hopefully) less crowded.

I lost 7lbs this past February just going to WDW for three days! I wore a pedometer and in those three days; we logged 21 miles. After the walking at Downtown Disney, the million trips unloading the truck at Pop Century, and doing the Beltz malls, and one-half day at Magic Kingdom, I figured we did over 25 miles. and I ate anything I wanted, but found myself not eating at every mealtime; we were just too busy.
