First the Timeshares at the Disney's Polynesian Village Resort now this. What is happing at Walt D$sney World. I Hope this place fails and then they can rebuild Pleasure Island.
It's the more and more and more people that come to WDW every year. 19 million last year supposedly! And more of those people have the big $$ to spend! Why else would a Four Seasons and Waldorf Astoria have been built in the last few years at Disney World? They know the more well-off visitors, many of them younger, are making WDW a part of their vacation plans.

Reminds me of the Sprint "some people are stupid rich" commercial I saw recently.

This restaurant is going to be run by the guys that started Gibson's Steakhouse in Chicago. Look at some of the pictures on this page and you'll quickly understand why the sides are so expensive - They are huge and normally, at least in Chicago, the whole table shares a side.

That is way too much food! It is one thing if we were at home and can take leftovers but at WDW I am not going to take leftover steak and sides back to my room. I wonder if this is more geared toward locals to come and have a nice dinner rather then tourists.

Figures. Another non-family friendly restaurant with no theming geared towards the kids. HELLO OUT THERE!!!! We are in Disney where the average age is 12 and our kids don't want to go to a restaurant like this!! Back to T-REX.

I'm planning on taking my kids. I guess you haven't seen the pictures of the main room and bar area. Bright, fun and you can eat in a boat!

Wow, that makes no sense. Why would you hope it fails? There needs to be offerings for all levels of socioeconomic status. Some people will eat at Earl of Sandwich, some at The Boathouse, most will enjoy the experience. I hope it is wildly successfully, both as a future customer and Disney shareholder. I can eat here without ordering the most expensive items, same as California Grill, Yatchmans, Shula's, and many others, enjoy the experience and surroundings and never hope the place fails. And by the way, I'll probably choose Earl over The Boathouse, but certainly don't hope they close the place down.
Not sure you thought that one through.

I would like to quote from WDWMagic's review -

"Many will look at the menu and dismiss it for being too expensive. Yes it offers some dishes that are over $100 each, but then it equally offers some great dishes in the $20 to $30 price range. We feel this again underlines the restaurant's ability to appeal to a wide group of guests, with different taste and budgets. Your visit to The BOATHOUSE could cost $70 for a couple eating a mid-price entree and sharing a dessert, up to $300+ for a couple indulging on some of the high end offerings like caviar and Tomahawk Steak."

I will wait to see what the reviews say. Price doesn't equal quality...but I am willing to pay for quality in food and service (one reason we no longer go to Le Cellier...increased prices and multiple visits had lower quality and service, we will wait for both to return). I hope that people will control their children in this establishment. We were at WDW in Feb. and saw a huge increase in kids of all ages just 'running wild' at all locations from quick service to sit down. I felt so bad for the servers trying to get through with trays and having to dance around unattended children. Just because you are at Disney doesn't mean rules and manners aren't needed. Good luck to the Boathouse.

There will soon be 17 table service restaurants in DD/DS and of those 2 maybe 3 are appealing to our young children. When we go to Disney, we expect a dining experience far different from what we can get in the city or at the beach (not to mention the yacht club we belong to).

Everybody has different tastes, but I would think for the average kid there are a lot more than 2 or 3 options that would work at Disney Springs. Obviously RFC and T-Rex have AAs and a bit of a show, but my kids loved Raglan Road too and I've seen plenty of kids at all of the other locations. There aren't character meals or dinner shows, but there is plenty of that all over WDW. Boathouse will actually probably be really interesting to kids with the boats and views of the water. Getting mom and dad to foot the bill is another story;)
