My husband has finally okayed a Disney cruise for Dec 2014 or Jan 2015! I've been angling for a Disney Cruise since our Honeymoon in 2002 so I'm super excited. He wants to the the 7 day Caribbean. Now I have to become a Disney Cruise expert! Any books you can recommend? Does Unofficial Guide make a book for Disney Cruises? Granted I have a lot of time to plan but I'm a planner.

Yep, there's an Unofficial Guide for DCL. I hear it's really good. I've never read it. Also, a browse thru the FAQs that Tammy put together here would be good. And read trip reports. I learn a TON from reading trip reports. If you have questions, ask away. We don't mind at all.

FAQ thread! It helps! :)
Passporters Guide to Disney Cruises is a good one too.
Also, I blog for TouringPlans.com which is Unofficial Guides website. We're about to start a bunch of cruise blogs. :)

In addition to the info above, decide which islands you want to visit. The Fantasy does 7 nt eastern Caribbean from Port Canaveral to St Maarten or St Thomas, Puerto Rico and Castaway Cay. The Magic does western Caribbean to Key West, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and CC. The Magic is several hundred dollars to a couple thousand cheaper, but is being completely refurbished. The earlier you book, the better the rate you'll get. Folks are already booking Dec 2014. But if the ship doesn't sell well, the rate could drop and you can get a reduction.

I am leaning towards the Magic I like the stops better for us. The Mexican stops especially. I'm looking at Jan 2015 so now I just need to wait for the 2015 prices to come out.

Thanks for all the tips to get me started.

Watch the cruiseline forums because Tammy (Disneyfalcon) will have the information out immediately when they announce the 2015 cruise Itineraries.

The Fantasy does the Eastern and the Western out of Port Canaveral. The Magic is going out of Galveston (4,6 and 7 night Western Caribbean) and Miami (5-night Western)and won't be going out of Port Canaveral for quite a while yet. (Oct. 2014)

RandomPrincess is interested in a Caribbean cruise in DEC 2014, so I posted the information applicable to that month.
