How does the booking process work for booking your next cruise before you get off the boat? i know this is the best way to get a discount but

How far out can I book and if I pick lets say a 2014 cruise in Sept can I change that to a 2015 cruise in Sept?

what is the cancellation policy?

how many bags can you check in at the port per person?

my husband just asked me if there was food available 24 hours? I assume cabana's closes at a certain time each night but not sure? is room service 24 hours?

I know if I order a soda from room service I will be charged for the drink does this go for juices and milk or coffee and tea as well?

where is the guest services desk on the Disney Dream located? I am interested in what special tastings or classes they will be offering

I have a PAT of 11am I know we don"t get rooms until 1 or 2pm....is everything on the ship open while we are waiting for our rooms IE...pool, water slide, restaurants, stores?

1. You need to go to the future booking desk on the ship to book your next cruise to secure the discount. If there's a wait you can always fill in a quote request card and drop it off. You can specify "placeholder" for the sail date and they'll know just what to do for you. You can also specify your travel agent by name & agency. ;)

2. Usually if you say "placeholder" it'll be booked pretty far out in the future. I'd expect placeholders right now to be booked like later next year. Yes, you can move them to a 2015 date when those release.

3. Cancellation policy for placeholders is the same as any other cruise. As long as it's not a cruise that's over a holiday or originates in another country, you should be good to go with the standard cancel or change before 75 days out.

4. I don't think there's a limit as to how many bags you can check at the port. I think the cruise line only sends 2 luggage tags per person in each stateroom but if you need more the porters can help with that curbside.

5. Yep. Food is available 24/7. After like 11 or 12 the walk-ups on the pool deck will be closed so then you're stuck with the limited offerings via room service. Also, keep in mind that beverages via room service (like Cokes) cost like $2 each or something like that. The free sodas you've got to go get from the soda station on deck.

6. I think like if you put the card out for morning coffee and/or breakfast in the room the next day it's not a charge. I'm not entirely sure there. There should be a breakfast card in your stateroom when you get there. Look on that. It'll tell you what's offered.

7. Guest Services on the Dream is on Deck 3, midship. When you walk onto the ship you will be on deck 3 in the atrium. Turn to your right so you're facing the elevators. Guest Services will be to the right of that. Can't miss it.

8. Pretty much everything will be up and running when you get on the ship. Most things will open right around noon. Only 1 of the sit-down dining rooms will be open: Enchanted Garden. That's on deck 2, midship. Cabanas buffet will be open. It's on deck 11, aft. The walk-up windows will be open, too. Shops and Shutters will NOT be open while you're in any port. Those will open around 6 or 6:30. Aquaduck, pools, poolside bars, etc. will be ready to roll while you're waiting for the rooms to be ready.

Have FUN!

You can book out through December of 2014 and move it to 2015 when they're released. Go to the rebooking desk and tell them you want to book a dummy cruise.

As long as you aren't booking concierge, your deposit is refundable up until 75 days before you sail.

As many as you want.

Room service is 24 hours, although it doesn't start until evening on the first day, and ends at midnight on the last night.

Juices, milk and coffee are free. There is a charge for sodas because it comes in cans. Anything that has a charge is marked well.

Guest services desk is midship deck 3.

Room should be ready at 1:30. Pools, slides, Enchanted Garden and Cabanas and everything on deck 11 is open, but stores are not. They can not open shops while in any port.

Have fun!!!

So I can't book a placeholder cruise for the Med or a trans Atlantic leaving from Europe? Cancellation policy is different for these?

Thank you both for your quick answers!!! Right know my mind is in overdrive!!!!

No you can! The cancellation date just starts sooner. Depending on the cruise it could be up to 120 days before. :)

Oh are there mini fridges in the rooms? Ugh my mind stop stop :banghead:

Yes! They are more cooling boxes than fridges, but they're cold enough for us. :)

Mini-fridges = yes in staterooms, not sure in all rooms.
Advance booking = deck 4 immediately above guest services on deck 3 on Fantasy, I believe Dream is same.
Unless you are starving (we were) or swimming (many were), earlier boarding time means longer until you can visit stateroom. We were boarding group 40. They got up to groups 37 thru 39, waited about 5 minutes, and then said "all remaining groups may board". We were last and we still boarded before 12:30. We beelined it to cabanas and stayed there with our carryons until 1:30 room availability.

I know your questions have already been answered, but here's my experience from last week...

We plan to take a 7-night Western in September 2015 and she booked us a 4-night Wonder cruise out of Miami for 12/3/14. She said this was the lowest price she could get us for a deposit ($90 for me and my wife) and we can change it as soon as the September 2015 dates are available. She said there would be no problem changing the dates, we'd just have to pay the increase in the deposit difference (if I hadn't reached that amount yet). We have until the payoff date for the currently booked cruise to change (which is September 2014). We went the first full day of the cruise and I only had to wait for one person in front of us (roughly 10 minutes).

Enjoy your cruise, we did!

You can do that according to the CM on board. He said you can push it back up to five years as long as the next year is out and it's before the 75 days. Also, on my last cruise, Royal Palace was open for lunch on embarkation day.
