EPCOT Figment, well, to be replaced by Figment

Perhaps an unpopular opinion, but I like that it's mostly art from the 2002 version. We don't have much of that available online, and there's plenty from the original attraction out there.
I mean, I get that.. but like I mentioned above. I’m conflicted about it cause on one hand, again, super cool to see more development art.. always on board seeing any development art featuring Figment and/or Dreamfinder we haven’t seen before but at the same time, somewhat worrying they’re doubling down on theming from the current iteration in new pavilion additions or changes lately when it’s the version the majority thinks is a massive downgrade from the original. Almost as if they think it’s worth keeping the way it is, that they “already fixed it”, if ya know what I mean. Sorta like Iger implied at Tony Baxter’s Disney Legends Award 10 years or so ago.

Though granted, atleast its art from the scene that most closely resembles anything seen in the original, atleast I can say that. Hey, like. These would be cool to see in a future art book regarding Figment, Dreamfinder, and the Imagination pavilion. It’s a surprise Disney hasn’t done it officially yet but I def think they should (we got a small glimpse of things in The Art of Disney’s Dragons book, just not all/as much as we could see)

But that’s what makes this such a delicate situation to be fair.. like, it’s a double edged sword. On one hand, it gives Figment atleast ‘some’ sort of representation, but it’s the rep most first time riders come out of the ride thinking, “What the heck was that? Is this a joke? What’s with the really cheap/bad looking CGI? Did that character just fart in my face? This is Figment’s ride right? So why is this a dated Honey I Shrunk themed ride and what does Figment have to do with it? Why do people like this ride and character again? Didn’t Eric Idle, the guy that plays Dr. Channing in the ride call Figment an “animated little f***er on Twitter?”. It’s one of the most currently bafflingly designed & confusing rides in the park as it stands, heck it ‘barely’ even introduces really ‘who’ or ‘what’ he is and what purpose he truly serves (hence why that original opening turntable scene of Dreamfinder & Figment on the flying Dreamcatching machine was so essential and was so poor of a choice to disable when they rethemed it), it doesn’t give people enough time to get to know let alone give a good first impression of the character or the attraction’s apparent love if they don’t bother to research the original beloved iteration (which introduced him, Dreamfinder and the concept of Imagination perfectly) online and the longer it stays the way it is, the more damage it does… so that’s why I have an issue with them doubling down on theming from this version and not the original.

I'm curious on who are the artists of the recent 2D art of Figment and of the green Figment concept art, as it looks to be a similar style.

Eric Idle was just on Conan O'Brien's podcast. He told a story about how he used to tell any fans who would approach him to F off, until Robin Williams taught him to be more empathetic towards people. It got me thinking that his little tirade about Figment wasn't directed at us Parks fans specifically. His instinct in any interaction seems to be exasperated condescension.

Perhaps Eric Idle or Figment or whatever wasn't because of his exasperated condescension (or whatever ultra vocabulary word you may so utilize, btw I know big words too, but don't make a mockery out of them) and maybe because of the way others have treated him in his life or recent life (maybe perhaps he was online or other some situation in his life and how others abused him perhaps, who knows). Maybe it wasn't Robin Williams that taught him empathy, maybe he had a hand in helping him with it. But, perhaps, people were kind to him. Maybe others should've been empathetic to him, would you think????

To be fair, I'd be grouchy if this continued to exist with my face on it -

Eric, you seem to have taken my comment personally. I'm sorry if what I said upset you, though I'm not sure why you think I'm making a mockery of vocabulary. That's just how I speak.

The clip is here. Feel free to draw your own conclusions.

First of all, how on earth can anyone mock Eric Idle...omg, Fawlty Towers, Life of Brian, Monty Python and the Holy Grail Knights who say Ni...come on, have you never seen any of those shows. What an incredible genius he was. Why on earth would anyone base his whole life experience on one dumb Disney thing he did? Yes, I admit I'm a huge Figment fan but in my opinion they really denigrated the whole idea of Figment from what it was. That was just a microcosm of his entire and elaborate life. Secondly, my comment was directed at others, not you. Should have learned my lesson on here from the last time that these people on here that sone people on here are not kind to me, and left forever like I fully intended to do in the first place. And how my wife wanted me to leave. And just swim at the Y and not think of them any longer...For some reason, I believe I should add Thank You Sir to the ending of this....
