EPCOT Figment, well, to be replaced by Figment

I got the same impression.

The ride will shutdown and the meet and greet will take its place to appease fans until the ride is complete.

Considering they spent time throwing out random Blue Sky ideas, including some absolutely horrendous ones like Zootopia at Animal Kingdom, there's really no reason they wouldn't announce they were working on a ride if they were.

I feel like many people missed this line: "I am going to have a lot more to share in the future but our teams right now are hard at work bringing Figment to life..."
To me, it seemed like he is saying that they are still hard at work on the new version of the ride.
The child inside had the same thought when he said that...the adult in me knows he just meant more details on Figment hand-puppet 2.0.

Get your ILL for Figment M&G ready.

I swear they’re gonna keep running this attraction into the ground and they expect people to accept the bare minimum because hey, at least it’s better than nothing right?! So much anticipation years back for something new but it’s clear to see they can get away with these things because people will keep coming. This happened in 2019, and happened again an hour ago. They know what they’re doing

As long as the merch is a top seller, the pavilion must be great. :(

Really troubling that the blue sky things feel more tangible than assistance for attractions that are either on life support or deceased.

I just watched some videos of the original. It really holds up really, really well story wise. If they ever were going to recreate a classic, this would be it for WDW. Using today's technology with the original ride would be a slam dunk, especially given the love for Figment.

They could even change the turn table into a pre-show or something to get around that hurdle - since you could easily queue and board in the DreamPort scene, picking up the ride from there.

I don't delude myself to believe it's true. But, it really could be such an amazing way of reaching out to the Figment and Epcot fanbase in a way I think many people would love.

I'd bet money the turntable would be extremely easy to do with today's technology. Heck, the fact Rise exists should make the original JII a cake-walk.

Having actually talked to an engineer about this (the only tiny insider knowledge I have... Which isn't really insider knowledge at all... Haha).

I actually thought the same. What I learned - if they rebuilt it with a trackless, yes. But the building wouldn't lend itself to the totally flat floor required. And they would likely use the rest of the track and vehicles. So, that hybrid aspect is what would make it tough. You're totally right it can be done. It just may not make sense depending on what exact form the project might take.

They would just have to spend the money to gut the inside and really redo it. I feel like this odd Figment M&G note is only half what they wanted to announce for the pavilion.

My guess is that they aren't really sure if a recession is coming in the next 6 months and would rather be vague than get destroyed by the fans for announcing things and then cutting back.

I didn't mean making it trackless, I meant completely resurrecting the original ride system how it was intended to work. I think with modern computers the timing would work much better today than it did in '83.

They're probably trying to find a way to monetize the next ride.

"How much is more imagination worth? Tap to pay $5 and feed your imagination."

"Hooray! Let them pay!"
