Figment meet and greet gone?

I don't know if this has been posted, but I just got an e-mail saying Figment's meet and greet is gone.

A funny thing happened while working on our new Internet experience…

ANOTHER CLOSING, ANOTHER SHOW

The Ides Of March was not only Caesar’s downfall; in 2008 it marked the end of “FIGMENT’S PLACE”. On Saturday March 15, 2008 the meet-and-greet area FIGMENT’S PLACE had its final visitors.

This show was closed to focus character encounters (sans FIGMENT) in FutureWorld to the Innoventions West Character Spot.

To add insult to injury, the walkaround FIGMENT (we know, the Epcot ‘mascot’) has also been discontinued!

FIGMENT was not alone at the end, as he was attended by friends. The Dreamfinder has been notified. We assume that they will be hanging out together at unemployment, or the old characters home.

Unless…an unretirement party should ensue…

WE MUST STRESS THAT THIS IS NOT THE END OF FIGMENT!!!
JOURNEY INTO IMAGINATION WITH FIGMENT REMAINS OPEN.

Also feeling the axe of budget cuts were Koda and Kenai of “Brother Bear” fame.
On our last trip their amusing antics really enhanced the pre-show for “O Canada”.
They too will be missed. Oh well.

We assume that the Princesses are safe for now.

I am not surprised, he was way out of the way in comparison to the ride. Unless you knew he was there, he was really hard to find. When we have gone up there to see him, no one was there, and we never saw anyone walking away or up to him anytime we went. There was plenty of room to have him hanging out really close to the ride exit. Why didnt they just have him inside there?

That's what we loved about it! Although for the sake of FA (Figment Advancement), I really wish it would've had a line out the door! Here is a tribute page from my CS3 Photobook to some of my favorite memories with Figment this August:

Yeah, I heard entertainment had to reduce cost b/c of budget reasons in Epcot. Since the Brother Bear and Figgy meets had the lowest number of visitors they got the axe. I am not sure how long this arrangement will be happening but for the near future Figgy has gone bye bye. He will be missed by at least one fan though!

I would say the odds are pretty good that Figment will be back so I'm not that worried, I'm more upset about Koda and Kenai getting the axe, not only do I love those characters but those were two of the best looking costumes in all of WDW in my opinion.

i have never saw the brother bear characters out and about in the park. do any of you have pictures? i'd love to see what they looked like, since i doubt i'll be seeing them around again any time soon.

That's so sad. My youngest Erin absolutely loves Figment and she will be so sad when we can't seem him in two weeks. We always end up riding the ride several times and then heading over to his place to hang out because she loves him so much. We have lots of pictures of her and Figment all over her room. I think you can see Koda and Kenai in AK periodically we have seen them there several times.

I'm so glad I finally got my photo taken with Figgy this last trip the beginning of March. It seemed that every time I stopped to see him he was on "vacation".

i have never saw the brother bear characters out and about in the park. do any of you have pictures? i'd love to see what they looked like, since i doubt i'll be seeing them around again any time soon.

Here is a pic of them in front of the Canada pavillion. I had a great time with them. The one walked me to the entrance of O'Canada. Which would have been great, but I wanted a pic with my DH too...not just Vince. (Merhearted). :lol:

Everytime I tried to catch Figment I never could, even once during the "Meet and Greet" he wasn't there.....I'm sad to hear that he could be gone permenently because I never got a pic with him!

Do you think they are just moving him to imagin-works??? Or this maybe a bit fair fetch or totally not possible...but do you think they are bringing back the Dreamfinder...so then their is no need for gaint figment??? Okay i know its crazy...I'm just being hopeful!
