Figment is Now A Fail...

So it was a rainy day in Epcot... I hadn't rode Journey into Imagination in a while. I got in the line, and of course, it was 5 minutes long. When I got in the cart, my jaw dropped. The ride has no Disney feel to it, and no one on this earth will say the animation is decent. This either needs a refurb, more focused on Figment, and not that heartless scientist. Also the moon ending gave me nightmares... This ride needs to go.

Figment's singing makes my ears bleed.

Dave Goelz is a fine voice actor and Muppeteer....

but he will never ever be Figment.

Heck, I don't think ANYBODY ever could after Billy Barty.

Figment is, ultimately, the personification of manic imaginative energy...and Barty always brought out a really great playful energy in almost every project he took on.

(even if that project was really, REALLY dumb)

DOES DAVE DO FIGMENT? I had no idea!!!! I am the biggest Muppets fan ever, I puppeteer myself, and I know all the Muppeteers names. :) But does Dave do Figment?

I didn't visit WDW between 1998 and 2010, so the last time I rode Imagination prior was in 1997 when the original ride was still operating. Losing all the other Future World classics was bad enough, but at least I was prepared for that pain. Unfortunately I was not aware Imagination had been changed. I felt like vomiting and it took all of my willpower after exiting the ride not to shout a stream of obscenities right there in front of families and children.

Just avoid the current abomination entirely, and watch Martin's tribute of the original instead (ride starts around the 10:30 mark), they should never have gotten rid of it-

Last time I went on this was in November and it broke down just after the first scene and about 10 min wait they came and walked us out and got a free fast pass for any park any ride any time so that was nice. Used it on mine train haha but yeah it's sad. Use to be a fav growing up and they kinda, well no they did ruin it

They absolutely ruined the ride. I remember Figment had a "softer" look back in the 80's than he does today. In fact I still have my big stuffed Figment from my '88 trip and you can see the difference if you compare him with the ones that they make today.

Now he looks like some kind of a monster a kid wouldn't want under his bed... He will never be the same

I never got to see the version in between the original and current, but I'd heard that was the absolute worst. The reality is that so many people have had their first trips since the ride was changed, that there are now generations of people who never knew what the original was like. My kids fall in that category and *shudder* actually enjoy the current version. Yes, I've shown them the original, but it's hard to get a good feel for it when watching from old YouTube vids. While I have lots of issues with the current incarnation, one of my biggest is that Figment is more of a pest than this sweet novel concept.

Figment turned from a lovable character into a comedic and mischievous character straight out of a Looney Tunes cartoon.

I gotten a bad first impression with Figment when I first discovered the attraction in its current state unaware of the original version that was once there. I though Figment and the entire ride (Mainly the finale) looked straight out of Barney which didn't help that Barney and Figment looked a bit similar.
