Festival of Fantasy Parade coming to Magic Kingdom in 2014

From what I've been told, parades are generally conceived with a large amount of floats, units, performers, etc., with the foresight that several will be cut. That way, even with cutbacks, there's still a good amount of material to work with. Steve mentioned in an interview after the parade's debut that an Alice in Wonderland unit was a part of the original plans. It's a shame, AIW always provides a whimsical atmosphere to a parade, and I still think FOF could use just one more unit.

Steven has said it, and basically anyone that has studied or works in entertainment/theatre/etc., is that you create big...and then you chip away at what is feasible and affordable according to the given budget.
Steven has also said that they usually conceive three main concepts for every pitch, depending on what they're pitching (parade, show, spectacular, etc.), and then the executives and entertainment dept. choose which concept they want. Ideas not picked always go back in the pot, get further developed, changed around, etc...and even concepts from productions approved, but cut, also may get used in other ways in other future productions.

Poor Steven though, has he ever been successful in getting an Alice in Wonderland segment into any of his shows? He always talks about how much he loves it and tries to put it in various things but it's always cut it seems.

If anything, I believe Alice was cut from World of Color because the stop-motion paper animations simply didn't look very good, not because it had to be cut for something else.

Happy 200th page! :D

I would hope DL gets a special treatment for any anniversary because its the original park. I hope this new light parade will come to DL, it would just be another reason to go check DL out.

There was a rather iconic Alice in Wonderland unit in DL's Parade of Dreams, which featured flowers on the bouncy-stilt things and playing cards on the trampoline 'table' from the tea party. Alice has been done in so many parades through the years that I'm kind of relieved we haven't seen it for a while. I'm sure she'll come back soon enough (they seem to be pushing her into the spotlight a lot, at least at DLR), but it's nice to have a break for the time being

Alice in Wonderland's float re-creates the mad tea party scene with Alice and the Mad Hatter. But things just get curiouser and curiouser when the cards start jumping on the table -- which is really a trampoline! Alongside the float the White Rabbit scurries around on roller skates, flower stiltwalkers bounce and sway, Tweedledee and Tweedledum spin around in a pair of teacups, and of course theQueen of Hearts (with her pink flamingo) stalks along and glares at parade watchers.

I happened to love that parade, thought it ended too soon. Should have ended March 8th, not new years week. Spectromagic going to rot was a bad thing I'll admit, but we have MSEP, and now it looks like DL doesn't need it for the 60th.

I know there's been bashing for MK on here for many years. It makes me a little sad that it's still going on even with Let it go and the dragon firing 5 times In FOF.

I just wish people on here would love MK as much as I do!
It's not that any of us hate MK (or we wouldn't be on here), it's most of the posters experienced the good old days when everything was darn near 100% all day, everyday. It's almost depressing to see such classic attractions that have stood the test of time in such conditions that go against how the company was founded upon.

Point blank: If Disney is still making money, why fix it? That's Disney's new philosophy.

—Because word of mouth reviews across America are becoming very negative. People are viewing WDW more as a stressful American requirement for children and less as an enjoyable vacation destination. Nationally published travel writers have been picking up on this for about two years.

If Disney wouldn't be offering deep discounts and package deals to international tourists, its Guest counts would be lower, not higher, than in previous years.

So, his is interesting...I've never seen anything like this actually happen in a Disney parade before...skip ahead to the Maleficent float. It appears the the driver cannot turn the wheel straight again after just coming off a corner.

That is just weird. That's not happened before was there problems with the mechanism perhaps?

It looks like the driver was unable to turn wheel straight again, meaning it was stuck turning to the right (towards the crowd). This video was recorded over a month and a half ago so whatever the problem was it has since been fixed :)
