Feb. 21st Star Wars land preview on ABC

I think they may tease the possible millenium falcon attraction with some new concept arts given that Harrison ford is involved with this. But beyond some new art here and there I don't expect much. And that is fine. We still have some ways to go.

You mean his show called "Disneyland" that started a whole year before Disneyland actually opened and had shows themed after the lands they were creating? Yeah he did.

Of all the bizarre things to get mad about, this show is #1 for me.

A network show celebrating DL 60th anniversary with Star Wars Land teasers built into it. I can't think of one single negative.

And this was part of the genius that was Walt Disney! Do you know how much he would have had to pay to get that much Disney marketing promotion time on TV? Instead of paying for TV commercials or promos, he sold an entire weekly show to ABC to run his Disneyland TV show a full 10 months before the park even opened. Not only did it focus on all the lands at the park, but also served to promote lots of other Disney productions that were in progress.

In my opinion, this was one of the most epic business deals in American history. Similar to how Bill Gates made his licensing deal with IBM for PC DOS (MS DOS). These type of business deals were pure genius, huge benefits, no down-side! Disney and Gates both seem to have the vision to "see the future" and then capitalize on it.

This is the kind of thing which makes me puke, Disney is touting something which does not even EXIST yet and even by the MOST optimistic estimates will not open till at LEAST 2019 and at DL at that!, Home of Star Wars indeed.

So let me get this straight. People are complaining because there is little to no info. So, people complain when Disney puts out a TV show about the new land to provide new info. I guess you would puke back in the 50s during Wonderful World of Disney when Walt Disney did the exact same thing to promote Disneyland.

You're right. We are chomping. But I'm willing to bet we don't get anything that those of us on this forum don't already know....or have heard rumors of.

Well, aren't you special. 99.99% of the people who will watch the show aren't on this forum.

No, Some of us are complaining because Disney is creating a false narrative that 'The Home of Star Wars' is ALREADY ready to receive guests. Disney is running ads now 'The Home Of Star Wars' - The naive visitors who have NOT done extensive research is going to be seriously disappointed and subsequently angry when they find that DHS has LESS SW than it did a year ago (SWW cut, Yes it was weekends only during May/June) but there were roaming characters, The 501'st trooping and SW personalitites along with a lot of random SW experiences.

Now we have ST 2.0, Launch Bay (overpriced underthemed store), M&G and a Fireworks Show with SW music, And 'Seasons of The Force' which consists mainly of banners hanging everywhere.

Really this will come down to how well Star Wars is themed. If it's carsland it will be a home run. New Fantasyland than a disaster. Hype only gets ya a few months if its crap. Disney needs a home run here. They have the IP of all IP's, lets see if the bean counters destroy it.

If the Launch Bay is any indicator it indeed will be crap. Disney NEEDS a home run with the ball way over the fence, Sadly they will probably just not even swing for the pitch and walk

Here's what I see this "special" including... starts with a "stick around till the end where we'll release some never before released news/info", lots of panning/zooming on the original concept art, a bunch of clips from the Star Wars series possibly as they talk about the attractions (nothing more than has already been announced), Mickey dressed up as Luke Skywalker, maybe BB-8 doing something silly, commercial breaks, more teasing about "sticking around until the end", Harrison Ford talks about how Star Wars means so much to so many people, more commercial breaks... and finally, in the last 60 seconds they announce the official section name and the year it will open...

Yeah, not sure why this topic is getting negative traction either...

It's a special about Disneyland's 60th, not a special about Star Wars Land or theme park makeovers.

This type of thing is exactly the type of programing we should all be happy to see more of... a program about the history of Disneyland that features a look into things like World of Color and Paint the Night. While it will be more than likely slightly more informative than the very educational Disney Parks Christmas Parade, it will still be a prime time dose of the very thing we all come to message boards like this in the first place... our love of Disney Parks. The SWL news will be nothing more than a lead in to a commerical break discussing the future of DLR and will only mention WDW. In the middle of winter in North America, I can think of far worse things to be upset about.

BTW - nobody's up in arms about a part of this show focusing on Elton John performing Circle of Life when there is clearly no announced Lion King Land forthcoming. No... that's not what's going in Toon Town.

I think the best part about this statement is that you say, "We lost Star Wars Weekends, which was only a few weekends a year and all we have now is all this other stuff that wasn't there before!"
