Favourite moderate and why?

PORS It's large but doesn't feel that way. Dining hall and TS restaurant are nice. Main pool is fun. The lounge is a nice place to relax with a drink or see Yee Haw Bob. The boat to DTD is awesome. A great way to relax for a bit. The ride back at night is even better. The gift shop is a nice size and has a large selection. With the resort being so big, it doesn't feel crowded. It's a very relaxing resort.

My preferences are POFQ or POR. I've stayed at all of the moderates, and those two were so enjoyable.. the grounds are amazing and I really love the boat transportation to DTD from both. The rooms are newly renovated and they now have queen beds.

Por

I have to agree with the previous posts. I would only stay at Deluxe resorts before but on my last trip decided to stay at a moderate to be able to extend my vacation longer. Well let me tell you I did not regret that decision, POR has no reason to envy any Deluxe. The resort grounds is beautiful. The counter service restaurant and TS are both good. It is centrally located so no bus drive is to far away. Well I cant compliment the resort enough, you will not be disapointed. I recommend visiting portorleans.org website as is as a wealth of information on the resort and lots of pictures and tips.

Hope this helps !

The Big Easy.

Good Morning,Well have stayed at three of the mods, all fantastic, but PORS edges it for these reasons. The grounds are beautiful, the food court I believe is one of the best in WDW property, the boat to DTD,the new renovated rooms, able to hire various types of boat to cruise down the sassagoula river, and Fultons store has everything but the kitchen sink, and last but not least, the bar where you can drown your sorrows listening to Yee Haw. What a perfect end to a day.:ROFLOL:

We have stayed at CBR along time ago and I am sure it must have changed, but we like it, but we had stayed in Dixie Landings. So fast forward a few years, we tried it again once more when it was PORS which turned in to 3 more times, the only reason we stopped was DVC. I agree with all the other post, but what amazed us was that with more than 2000 rooms you could walk around any time of day or night and only see a handful of people! because the pool is away from the accommodation there is no noise from that area, it is so calm and quiet that you would not know you were in WDW, great for those afternoon breaks from the Parks. DH wishes that they had made PORS as part of DVC. Which ever you choose will be great.

My Personal Favorite is Coronado Springs. Enjoy the Pool, Maya Grill and Rix Lounge when I can sneak away.

We always stay at a Deluxe but I know the time will come when we won't be able to anymore, my choice would be the Coronado Springs too, although I've never visited any moderate resorts, this one stands out to me and will be the moderate I will stay at one day!

I go very frequently and stay on property 2 -4 times a year it just does not make sesnse to go Deluxe. I like Coronado because they have recently refurbished rooms and gave me one a heck of a birthday!

This.

Add queen sized beds and arguably the best bus transportation of any resort.

Add a spa which no other moderate has.

Coronado is also the newest of the moderates, if I am not mistaken.

My favorite has to be either Carribean Beach or Riverside! I love the atmosphere at both of them. And the last 2 trips I have been on they were just great trips!

Also, at Riverside, that is where I took my first steps as a baby 16 years ago!!!

First off I'll say it's largely about what theme you like and will feel a connection to. However...

My wife and I aren't a family who can afford to go to WDW very often; we're generally a once every 5 years kind of family. A situation occurred that allowed us to go two years in a row - 2009 and 2010 - with our young children (currently 6 and 3). We stayed at CBR (in Aruba) the first year and really enjoyed the theme, food court and pool. We also liked the walk from Aruba to Port Royale across the island. For the second trip we discussed returning to CBR but wanted to try something new and went with POR - Alligator Bayou. The rooms are the identical size and layout as CBR, but with a different theme. We LOVE POR for all the reasons people have posted above. The food court is amazing. The pool is fun. The winding, peaceful walkways are a retreat instead of a rush hour. The boat to DTD is fun as well. During our stay, my son wanted to go back and visit CBR so we made time for one meal over there. We had enjoyed our previous trip, but found it to pale in comparison to POR. Buses are hit and miss everywhere, so I don't put too much stock into those arguments. Good luck and have fun making your decision. Planning is half the fun!

PORS has a TS restaurant- Boatwright's- which is nice!
The lounge is nice too.
Typical food court area, but beautiful resort landscaping!
The pool is nice w/ a slide. It's nestled beneath the trees!:)
You can go fishing- catch and release.
There are new "princess rooms".
There is a boat that goes to DD.:)
Memorable!

I'll give my vote to Coronado Springs. I loved the Mexican South Western theme. Lots of trees and flowers. Great pools, including the pyramid pool with slide.

Spa/gym-no other moderate has.

Bar outdoors by the lake. Plenty of really good food options. And a Donald in a sombrero topiary as part of the Three Amigos!

I LOVE Port Orleans Riverside. I actually think I like it better than the deluxe. The only reason I stay at other locations is their location. I wish it were right next to a park. The beds are queen (2), the food court is out of this world, the pool is ok, and the grounds are great. There is so much to do there as well. If it were located where Beach Club or Boardwalk was there, it would be PERFECT!

I've only stayed at POFQ, and we spent a lot of time walking over to POR. I can't compare them to the other moderates, but I can say that I love everything Port Orleans. I like it as much as some of the deluxe's, and even more than others. It's just beautiful, quiet, quaint, well themed with great food & lots of activities. Transportation was nothing to complain about either. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again! I actually really want to try to the princess rooms at POR when DD is older. :)

I am going to cast my vote for PORS. I have never stayed at a Moderate Resort before but will be in September in one of the Royal Rooms.

Having stayed at all of moderates I can honestly say I like all of them for different reasons. When we stayed at PORS for the first time we immediately fell in love with the resort for the same reasons stated above. However for all of the nice spread out resort areas it has it is a little of a hike anywhere on the property. We decided to stay at POFQ a couple of years ago and we have a hard time not staying there when we book our vacations. Though very similar to its counterpart its much more quaint with everything close to transportation. Very few children running around compared to RS due to the larger amount of guests allowed in a room. Both resorts have the downtown ride along the Sassagula River to downtown Disney which is one of the hidden gems most people don't even know about. My daughter found the pool at FQ to be a water park in itself with a huge dragon slide fit for mardi gras.

At Coronado Springs we really loved the theme but let it be known it is used as business property for gatherings and conferences so its set up a tad but different. We actually got lost on the property with all of the areas looking the same.

My vote goes for POFQ.

You won't be disappointed in either Port Orleans Resorts or Caribbean Beach, CBR is more spread out so I would suggest trying not to be in Trinidad South (where the pirate rooms are) as that is quite a walk to Port Royale where the food is.

The only moderate I am not a fan of is Coronado Springs, it just doesn't feel as much like Disney as some of the others do, they do cater to the business groups more so I'm not a big fan and their food court is quite different from the other moderates, those with picky eaters my not appreciate, I personally didn't as I am a grab a burger or slice of pizza and go guy.

All the moderates are nice, I prefer Riverside or CBR as they are bit more spread out and have nice quiet spots to relax, both have quite pools , French Quarter does not.
