Favorite things outside of the parks

My girlfriend and I are going to disney in June and are curious of what attractions, outside of the four main parks, we should consider inside disney world? We were thinking of going to one of the water parks, but what are some of your favorites?

Great forum by the way, I've been lurking for a few days and enjoyed reading many of the posts. Very informative

We like mini golf and hanging out at the Boardwalk. My little one loves Blizzard Beach and then there is always DownTown Disney.

Welcome! We like Blizzard Beach, and if you can, try to see Cirque du Soleil. It's a little pricey, but an excellent show.We always spend a few hours visiting different resorts to see what they're like.

We like to visit the different hotels, play mini golf and definately love shopping at DTD. We also went to Cirque last year and loved it. I think I might try to get over to Ft Wilderness next time to catch the sing-a-long and movie. That sounds like fun. We also like to ride bikes at POR.

Golf is fun and afforable in the summertime. Each of thier five courses is awesome.

Water parks are fun. I prefer Typhoon Lagoon.

They rent little boats all over the place. If you rent at the Contemporary, you can drive all over bay lake and the seven seas lagoon.

And don't forget the restaurants. There are many, many choices at the resorts. Ohana at the Poly and Whispering Canyon Cafe at the WL are a couple of the fun ones.

Have a good time Ag.

I love checking out all of the other resorts. Over a couple of trips, I collected something small, like a pin or a shot glass, from each of the resorts. There are great gift shops, restaurants and things to check out. Many of the resorts have boat and bike rentals too!

If you are in for some fun, head over to the Adventurers Club at Pleasure Island or get tickets for Cirque Du Soleil. I have seen the Cirque show at Disney 4 times and it never gets old.

Miniature golf on the property is very fun. There are two places to play, one near the Boardwalk called Fantasia Gardens and the other right next to Blizzard Beach called Disney's Winter Summerland. They are bith fun and the theme's are great!

Also, the entire Downtown Disney area has great shops and food. You can spend an entire day there! There is even a huge movie theatre in case it is raining.

What resort are you staying at? There is SO much fun to do at Disney that I think it would be possible to have a great vacation there without ever going to the parks (though for me that would be impossible to acheive!)

We have rented the Water Mouse boats and the surrey bikes, gone mini golfing and loved Cirque du Soleil.

All Ears Net has a great listing of other things to do at WDW:

Thanks for the responses. We are probably staying at the pop century as that seems to be the best of the value resorts. Mini golf sounds like it could be a lot of fun, is there a consenses #1 out of the two different courses or is it mostly just personal preference?
