Favorite Perks Of WDW Solo Trips?

For all of you solo WDW travelers out there...what do you really enjoy the most about being at WDW by yourselves? I have been to WDW numerous times with family, friends AND by myself. While I do enjoy the trips with others, I absolutely love the freedom of my solo trips. I enjoy the fact that I come and go as I please and efficiently move about the parks without having to slow down to wait for everyone else. I also love going out at night, have some drinks and mingle/meet new friends. Downtown Disney (REALLY miss Pleasure Island), the Boardwalk, etc. How about everyone else?

Yes
I would imagine going to the bathroom in your hotel room without someone sitting RIGHT next to you behind a 3 inch wall.

I love the thought of doing a solo trip. especially since none of my friends/family really like WDW the way I do. But the whole thing scares me and makes me nervous at the same time. Like as far as eating by myself. I am not sure I would be comfortable doing that. I would feel like people are staring at me. And I am not that great at starting conversations with random strangers.
But, if I can't get someone to go to WDW with me soon I just may have to go by myself. Last time I was there was Jan 09 and I am going through some serious withdrawal!

The freedom for sure. I can ride things I love over and over again without worrying about any one else. Go to and leave parks on my own schedule. Pick restaurants that I love. Stop and take pictures of anything that I want. Freedom!

Yeah you really hit it on the head! It is very nice to just be able to ride what ever you like when ever. Also the photo thing is REALLY NICE!!!

Out of all the trips I've gone there has never been a solo trip. However, in 2002 I had a hopper pass for the day and it was one of those days where my folks, my sister or our friends didn't feel like going. So I went by myself. I went to Tower of Terror at DHS, then hopped over to Epcot and did Honey I Shrunk the Audience and a couple other things. Then took the monorail (nice leisurely ride) to MK for the rest of the day.

I guess it was good for the freedom but you still want someone to share it with you.

Other than that I went to Islands of Adventure alone in 2002 also. Had a blast of a day. But it's always better with someone

I'd imagine it being very fun, but getting tired of it quickly. It's almost like golfing by yourself, would be great, but if you hit a hole in one, no one else saw it haha. It's always better (imo) to share it with someone!

Another big vote for freedom here. Ride, See, Eat anything YOU want anytime YOU want!! I can understand why people wouldn't want to go solo bc they want to "share" it, but living close makes it hard not to go on some solo trips.

I 100% agree with this. I'm an A/P holder and visit the parks when I travel to the WDW area for work, once a month. When I first bought my pass a year ago I was so excited to get to the parks, but towards the end of last year I really wished that I had someone to hang out with. There were several times where I just ended up walking around the parks and taking the time to look at things that I really never paid attention to before. But at times it's nice and I would definitely recommend that everyone do it at least once, but there will be a point where you'll wish that your significant other and/or kids were there with you.

Wow...I think I've done at least 10 solo trips over the years. Maybe it's because I grew up an only child and generally do a lot of things by myself anyway (Lol!) but I really enjoy it. And I'm a pretty outgoing and social person so I tend to make friends on my solo trips. Especially if you go out at night for a few cocktails. As far as the eating by yourself thing...I know that that can be a little intimidating depending on where you go. If I'm by myself, I tend to stick to quick service or someplace with a bar I can sit at (House Of Blues). However I do make it a point to go to Tony's in the MK every trip so I'm usually stuck at a table by myself. The solo thing...the more you do it, the more comfortable you are with it.

Elvis - I don't disagree with you by any means, and I'm the same way. I visited WDW about 25-35 times this past year, 98% of those were solo trips and in fact it's ironic I bought my AP one year ago today. Anyway, I go to the parks and go out at night and it is fun, but after doing it so many times this past year I found myself wishing that I had someone else to hang out with or talk to. I travel a lot for work and I'm used to eating on my own, etc but with all of the families and couples around at WDW it makes you want to be with someone else . . . after a while of doing it anyway.

I definitely see where you're coming from Disney Dawg. For me, I'm at WDW at the most, once a year. However I think that if I logged as many trips as you did this past year, yeah...after a while I'd probably like some family/friends around too. In 2009, I was there with 10 other people...11 of us in total. I had a great time and it was a lot of fun.

That's how I ended up doing my solo trip in '09. No one else to go with - hubby doesn't like it and DD all grown up and busy with school and work! You're from PA, too, albiet on the other side of the state - we should get together!

Exactly. I really enjoyed just doing what I wanted, when I wanted, but after about 4 days, I did miss having someone to share it with.

I have only done one solo trip and the best part was being able to do the parks all day from open to close without worrying about anyone else. I rode HM five times in a row. I went on Soarin three times in a day. It was great. It did get lonely at times. But all in all I enjoyed it.

I do solo trips all the time to the parks there...as well as to the Universal parks and Busch Gardens. Last summer I did four days alone in California too. It's nice because you can do whatever you want at your pace. The negatives are you do get lonely at times...seeing families and couples laughing and enjoying things together...while you're...well, just you.

It's still enjoyable.
