Favorite Park Icon

EPCOT is my favorite park, and I love Spaceship Earth, but most favorite icon just has to be the Castle. (Even watching a Disney Studios movie, when I see the Castle, it pulls at my 'heartstrings'.)

SSE, I can never take enough pics of it. I love the view when you enter the park, but nothing beats a shot of the fountain with SSE in the background

Hmmmm...I'd say Tree of Life and Spaceship Earth are my favorite of the big 4, but personally my favorites are Expedition Everest, Tower of Terror, and Big Thunder Mountain.

I can not begin to describe how overjoyed I am with the massive love shown for SSE. I see it as confirmation of much of what EPCOT lovers have said so often:
EPCOT is Disney Magic. There is more to the magic than princesses and celebrity fur.
The wand was a disaster. It diminished the majesty of what is to many people the most potent symbol of Disney magic.
LAL is an aestethical disaster too. I think it is a great idea in itself. But selling off one of the most magical places in WDW for a short-time profit was a disaster.

So I say tear down LAL. (Rather, replace it somewhere else.) Open up the view of SSE! Bring back the flowerbeds! And bring back the stucture on the fountain in front of SSE!
Nowadays, the second best view is considered the best: SSE from behind, behind the fountain of nations. Doing back the above will restore what was the greatest view of SSE: in the front of the park.

A tie for me.

The castle is magical. The sight down Main Street is magical, a fairy-tale. Our castle beats all the others too.

Spaceship Earth. There is something about this structure. I am drawn towards it as much as the people in Close Encounters were drawn to that mountain. I think it is because it looks like a celestial body. At night, in the distance over the lake, it looks like a full moon. It appeals to a deep, human instinct.

I think SSE is completely understimated for its architectural worth. The building is a marvel, a sight to behold. Few people fail to be moved by it. And that for a simple geometriacl building with no ornamentation whatsoever.
It just workd, both from afar, by sheer strenght of form. And up close. those lines, those triangles, they are mesmerising. After all this time, I still haven't figured the pattern out.
Exactly. SSE has a presence, no? It seems alive, and even benevolent.:D

Exactly again. I want fountains and ponds. :D

For me, I'll have to go with the Train station once you get throught he gates at MK. Seeing the garden in front is always something I look forward to.

Also, seeing the Castle from the monorail on the way to MK is something I always love...especially on the first visit to the park.

I have say looking down Main Street at the Castle in the distance is the quintessential Disney moment for me. It comes complete with the smell of the confectionery and the great Main Street background music! 5 Days until I'm standing there soaking it all in! I can't wait!!! :sohappy:

The castle is the obvious choice for most... but there is something very "iconic" about Spaceship Earth. I dont know why. Maybe it's the simplicity of it. But it's just cool.

Agreed!

But I'm also torn with the Castle. But I think I'm going with SSE.
