More of a Roller Derby girl myself. :o

My sister was the roller derby queen. Her skates didn't have brakes, and her wheels were metal. She didn't need brakes - she was AWESOME!! Skated to Donna Summer. My skates were white with big red pom poms!

Saturday nights for me were Lawrence Welk and Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom......Go get'em Jim. By the way Class of 1982.

I’ll Be There For You
Bon Jovi
I guess this time you're really leaving
I heard your suitcase say goodbye
And as my broken heart lies bleeding
You say true love in suicide

You say you're cried a thousand rivers
And now you're swimming for the shore
You left me drowning in my tears
And you won't save me anymore

Now i'm praying to god you'll give me one more chance, girl

I'll be there for you
These five words i swear to you
When you breathe i want to be the air for you
I'll be there for you
I'd live and i'd die for you
Steal the sun from the sky for you
Words can't say what a love can do
I'll be there for you

I know you know we're had some good times
How they have their own hiding place
I can promise you tomorrow
But i can't buy back yesterday

And baby you know my hands are dirty
But i wanted to be your valentine

I'll be the water when you get thirsty, baby
When you get drink, i'll be the wine

I'll be there for you
These five words i swear to you
When you breathe i want to be the air for you
I'll be there for you
I'd live and i'd die for you
Steal the sun from the sky for you
Words can't say what a love can do
I'll be there for you

And i wan't there when you were happy
I wasn't there when you were down
I didn't mean to miss your birthday, baby
I wish i'd seen you blow those candles out

I'll be there for you
These five words i swear to you
When you breathe i want to be the air for you
I'll be there for you
I'd live and i'd die for you
Steal the sun from the sky for you
Words can't say what a love can do
I'll be there for you

And now for a little Quarterflash.....

Harden My Heart

Cryin' on the corner
Waitin' in the rain
I swear I'll never ever wait again

You gave me a word
But words for you are lies

Darlin' in my wildest dreams
I never thought I'd go
But its time to let you know

Chorus:

I'm gonna harden my heart
I'm gonna swallow my tears
I'm gonna turn and leave you here.....

All of my life
I've been waitin' in the rain
I've been waitin' for a feelin' that never ever came

It feels so close
But always disappears

Darlin' in your wildest dreams
You never had a clue
But its time you got the news

Chorus

Guitar solo

Darlin' in my wildest dreams
I never thought I'd go
But its time to let you know

Chorus

I'm gonna harden my heart
I'm gonna swallow my tears
I'm gonna harden my heart
I'm gonna swallow my tears

Harden my heart
I'm gonna swallow my tears
Oh oh oh oh

Harden my heart
I'm gonna harden my heart
I'm gonna swallow my tears

I'm sorry cherry! I didn't mean to make you cry. My friends always make fun of me because I'm the youngest of the bunch. I was born in '85 and I graduated at 17 years old. I started Kindergarten when I was 4, so I've always been ahead .

If it makes you feel any better, my mom is going to be 50, and my dad is 53 .

Damn, I'm older than BOTH of them!!!

Class of '82 here (high school...'86 for college) I feel so OLD...you all could be MY KIDS!

Btw, Styxx was big when I was in HS. This one always reminds me of my old college boyfriend

Babe

Babe I'm leaving
I must be on my way
The time is drawing near
My train is going
I see it in your eyes
The love, the need, your tears
But I'll be lonely without you
And I'll need your love to see me through
So please believe me
My heart is in your hands
I'll be missing you

'Cause you know it's you babe
Whenever I get weary
And I've had enough
Feel like giving up
You know it's you babe
Giving me the courage
And the strength I need
Please believe that it's true
Babe, I love you

Babe, I'm leaving
I'll say it once again
And somehow try to smile
I know the feeling we're trying to forget
If only for awhile
'Cause I'll be lonely without you
And I'll need your love to see me through
Please believe me
My heart is in your hands
'Cause I'll be missing you
Babe, I love you

Don't forget Hee Haw!

class of 88

I tried to forget......guess that means more therapy.

Where oh where are you tonight?
Why did you leave me here all alone?
I searched the world over and thought I found true love
You met another and *pfffft* you were gone.

Hee Haw :D

Gloom, despair and agony on me.
Deep dark depression. Excessive misery.
If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.
Gloom, despair, and agony on me..

Try to see it my way
Do I have to keep on talking till I can’t go on
While you see it your way
Run the risk of knowing that or love may soon be gone
We can work it out
We can work it out

Think of what you’re saying
You can get it wrong and still you think that it’s all right
Think of what I’m saying
We can work it out and get it straight or say good night
We can work it out
We can work it out

Life is very short and there’s no time
For fussing and fighting, my friend
I have always thought that it’s a crime
So I will ask you once again

Try to see it my way
Only time will tell of I am right or I am wrong
While you see it your
There’s a chance we might fall apart before too long
We can work it out
We can work it out

Life is very short and there’s no time
For fussing and fighting, my friend
I have always thought that it’s a crime
So I will ask you once again

Think of what you’re saying

The Postman Song - Stevie B
This was a good one. Not really sad lyrics, but I think it was the tempo that could get a good cry out of me.

I got your letter
From the postman just the other day
So I decided to write you this song
Just to let you know
Exactly the way I feel
To let you know my love’s for real

Because I love you
And I’ll do anything
I’ll give you my heart, my everything
Because I love you
I’ll be right by your side
To be your light, to be your guide

If you should feel
That I don’t really care
And that you’re starting to lose ground
Just let me reassure you
That you can count on me
And that I’ll always be around

Because I love you
My heart’s an open door
Girl, won’t you please come on in
Because I love you
I’ll be right by your side
To be your light, to be your guide
Because I love you
I’ll be right by your side
To be your light, to be your guide

Did she say we're through?
Has she found someone new?

He's a runner
and he'll run away,
soon, there'll be no man.
Woman ain't been born who can make him stay;
Woman get away while you can!

He's a runner
and he'll run away,
with the midnight train.
Woman ain't been born who can make him stay;
Come the judgement day, come the rain!

He's a runner
There'll come the running;
he'll know he's got to;
don't ask him not or why.
Oh why oh why did you leave me,
And run off to tomorrow?
Now I'm in chains
till I die.

He's a runner
and he'll run away;
soon there'll be no man.
Woman ain't been born who can make him stay.
Woman get away while you can!

He's a runner
He's a runner
And he's got to run, he's got to run,
Away.....

Written by the late Laura Nyro, who was only four years older than I! She died in 1998. This song was written, as were most of her well-known songs, when she was still in her teens.

Here's the other side of the story. :animwink:

I never meant to hurt you
I'm not that way at all.
Please believe the words of a heart, a heart that seems so small.

I never meant to hurt you,
I guess I lost my place.
Please believe the words of a heart,
A heart that hides its face.

Why do I do things, I never mean to do?
Why did I speak so carelessly, when all that I felt was love
for you?

And I swear,
I never, never, never meant to hurt you!
I've got to make you know!
Please believe the words of a heart,
A heart that didn't show.

I never meant to hurt you,
I only meant to love you,
it's true.

And when I saw you crying,
I cried too.

I thought of this when I was on the Aida thread.

Artist: ABBA
Album: Arrival
Title: Knowing Me, Knowing You

No more carefree laughter
Silence ever after
Walking through an empty house, tears in my eyes
Here is where the story ends, this is goodbye

Knowing me, knowing you (ah-haa)
There is nothing we can do
Knowing me, knowing you (ah-haa)
We just have to face it, this time we're through
(This time we're through, this time we're through
This time we're through, we're really through)
Breaking up is never easy, I know but I have to go
(I have to go this time
I have to go, this time I know)
Knowing me, knowing you
It's the best I can do

Mem'ries (mem'ries), good days (good days), bad days (bad days)

They'll be (they'll be), with me (with me) always (always)
In these old familiar rooms children would play
Now there's only emptiness, nothing to say

Knowing me, knowing you (ah-haa)
There is nothing we can do
Knowing me, knowing you (ah-haa)
We just have to face it, this time we're through
(This time we're through, this time we're through
This time we're through, we're really through)
Breaking up is never easy, I know but I have to go
(I have to go this time
I have to go, this time I know)
Knowing me, knowing you
It's the best I can do

(repeat)
