Ok..... 5days/2hrs/40min left till we leave.... (breath Laney, breath)

I have heard that the "Dole Whips" are a must..... and I did see a pic on here the other day of some type of strawberry swirl icecream? Was that a Whip? Where do you find these?

And what are your favorite snacks that you just have to have while at Disney world? What park and where are they located?
I'm all about indulging on vacations...... So tell me all about it! :slurp:

(and if there was a previous thread about this, I apologize!)

Another School bread fan :D

I describe it as a large bread type roll, filled with a custard-esqe substance and covered in icing and coconut. :slurp:

I had Dole Whip for the first time on my last trip, and OH MY GOSH!!!! It's the kind of thing you crave afterwards. Before, I had heard all about Dole Whip, but I didn't actually know what it was, and never thought to ask why it was so good. Then, I saw it on a guidemap and decided to investigate. When I saw what it actually was, the thought of pineapple ice cream actually caused my stomach to turn a bit. However, I decided I had to try it, since I'd heard so much about it. I'm glad I did! I ended up making it at home (almost, but not quite as good). My list of snacks to try next trip include Zebra Domes, School Bread, and Figaro Fries. :slurp:

Hmm.... Dole Whip.... pinapple.... what if you don't like pinapple? What is it made of anyway? Is it a drink or more like ice cream? Does it taste more tropical, or just pinapply? (sp)

Well...there is this Minute Maid Cran Apple juice that I have everytime in WDW. I have a hard time finding that specific flavor here at home. I always like to enjoy a churro as well.

Some sort of apple strudle thing from germany and zebra domes

Also, if you consider it a snack, it's usually the special at the germany wine store. It's sparkling wine with some kind of strawberry or cherry syrup.

The chocolate covered strawberries at DTD and the box of peanut butter/chocolate melts purchased at any Disney property gift shop. Mainly, though, the POPCORN!!!! I crave Disney popcorn at home, throw a pack of Orville R. in the microwave, then...boom...complete letdown because Disney's taste so good and you cannot get that taste at home.

Mmm..

Dole whip is a must... although I don't like the floats. Pinapple, uggh :hurl:

In Epcot, ANYTHING Chocolate from Italy or any pastery from France.:slurp:

I love popcorn. From anywhere.

Fiargo fries are a major yum with me... although I'm not too sure they classify as a snack, I eat them between my actual meals. :animwink: Their loaded fries! So yummy!

Love all the typical WDW Fare: Dole Whips, Churros, Mickey Premium IC bars.

But my new favorite when I was there in December was a Jalapeno-Cheese Pretzel. They have them in quite a few place in the MK including The Lunching Pad in Tomorrowland. I seem to think I had one the day before in Disney-MGM Studios as well.

CHURROS!!!

Dole Whips/Pineapple floats are a must too. Nothing beats a visit to Aloha Isle!

At Downtown Disney I have to get a hot fudge sundae or an iced white chocolate coffee from Ghirardelli. YUM!

And at Epcot I always have to stop and get a Crunchie bar or Curly Wurly at the UK pavillion. I can get them cheaper at the Brit goods shoppe in Tampa but I can't resist the call of CADBURY! The crepes and chocolate eclairs in France are to die for too!

School Bread is one of my favorites too, and it's such a bargain too! Does anyone know why they call it "school bread" though? I asked a Cast Member from Norway, and they didn't have a clue.

I don't think it can get any better than Dole Whips and churros... except with the popcorn! Whenever anyone I know makes a trip down to the world... I make sure they bring me back as much popcorn as possible.... mmm.... i'm getting hungry just thinking about it! :slurp:

For the School bread Fans

I tried to track down the recipe for this and was eventually able to get it from a kind person at the Norwegian embassy in New York. Measurements are in metric. A DL is one tenth of a Litre - not a Disney Land ;)

You will also see it's correct name

Skolebrød

25 g fresh yeast or equivalent in dry yeast
150 g butter or margarine (melted)
1/2 dl sugar (1/20th litre)
3 dl milk (3/10th Litre)
8-9 dl flour (8-9 10ths litre)
1 egg

Mix it all, but make sure the liquids are not to warm or cold for the yeast.
Work on the dough until it doesn't stick to the bowl. Roll the dough out in
2 lengths and cut each length into buns of the right size. Let them rise for
about 2 hours in room temperature, covered. Then make a hollow/indent in the
top of each of them, and fill it with vanilla custard/cake custard. Bake the
rolls for 8 - 10 minutes at 475 degrees F.

When cooled off, you can cover them with icing (powdered sugar and water)
and unsweatened coconut flakes.

For those after more Disney World recipes there is a long standing thread here:

I am not much of a sweets person but the food on property has always been incredible, so why not the sweets. Only 193 days 18hours and 39 mins until I go back to WDW:cry:
