I think one night is more than enough. Like you I don't worry about the rides, but make it a point to take in the parade, shows and fireworks. And of course the trick or treating. I don't know of many who have done more than one party in a year.

Thank you I forgot about the fireworks :hammer: that is a must do!! Do they have shows? I know they have shows at the MVMCP but I wasn't sure about the Halloween party.

We went last year on Ocotber 22nd and I thought it was crowded, the closer to the 31st the more crowds you will experience at the party. We did get around the park twice, even with the crowds. If you buy your tickets in advance (cheaper), get to the MK at 4 pm the day of the party and enter with that party ticket (no one waits until 7 to get in), and stay until midnight you should be fine going one night only.

Last Oct I saw a family dressed as Peter Pan Characters:

The dad was Tinkerbell
The grandma was Wendy
The grandpa was Peter
The mom Smee
The kid was hook
The other family members were the lost boys

They were so cute and so simply done. It was so amazing! Wish I had taken a pic of them. We were at Pop and they were boarding the busses to go to the party.

I'm sorry, but that made me laugh. I wish I had been there to see it, especially Dad as Tinkerbell. And yes, Disney usually frowns on adults wearing costumes in its theme parks, but I believe MNSSHP is the exception.

A couple of trips back we saw a group of adults wearing enlarged FastPass Cards that had been printed on the material that looks like plastic cardboard (don't know what it's called.). They were about the size of 3' x 4'. Each person wore two of them like the old sandwich board advertisements. They got a lot of attention wherever they went and it was really clever. Wish I had a picture to post for you.

That must of been so cool to see! That is so original I never would of thought of something like that

When we went on Halloween night several years ago, Love dressed up as John circa 1920's from Carousel of Progress - complete with Niagara Falls fan and everything! - but no one got who he was until we told them. Then they thought it was clever. I was so disappointed!

The best that I saw though was a guy dressed as a Knight Who Says, "Ni!" from Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail. Poor guy was getting mobbed to pose for photos. But the costume was simply the best.

edit: Ah ha! I thought I still had a pic

Last year my friend and I had 80s costumes that included 80s like Disney shirts. 2 years ago I worked most parties while on my college program. There was a family with a Mary Poppins theme. The little girl had an awesome version of Mary's white dress, the little boy was Bert & the rest were chimney sweeps. I also saw a family with good haunted mansion costumes and a little boy dressed like a tumble monkey from FOTLK. His costume looked just like the ones from the show.

The wife and I usually attend and keep a count of the inappropriately dressed Tinkerbells.

Last year it was 14.

I remember that somebody on these boards (and two friends) dressed up as the hitchhiking ghosts and posted a pic of them on Splash Mt.? Anyone remember this?

Those were my favorite costumes! I think there might be a thread on this if you look for homemade costumes...

I did not see these costumes myself, but I remember a similar thread where someone posted pictures of their group as they had all dressed as Mousketeers from the 50's version of the Mickey Mouse Club. White sweaters with their names printed on it, the MM club emblem, Mouse ears. They looked great and were invited to be the parade marshalls for the evening parade.

That was a former member called TK-421 SW. Unfortunately when he left WDWMagic he took the pictures with him.

My costume last year was pretty lame, but I saw a lot of great ones there....

We saw a Toy Story family when we were there. I believe the Mom was Bo Peep, the Dad was Buzz, the Daughter was Jessie, and the son was Woody. It was so cute (although the mom's Bo Peep costume was a somewhat inappropriate IMHO.)

There was a Mary Poppins and Bert in the Jolly Holiday costumes, that were honestly so good we thought they were the actual Mary and Bert Disney Characters.

My favorite was a little girl (maybe 4 or 5) in a princess costume and her dad wore the Prince Charming costume.

Randomly- We also saw someone dressed as Edward Scissorhands- which was pretty awesome, he went all out. And we saw a guy and a girl who were dressed as Tim Gunn and Heidi Klum from Project Runway. The Tim Gunn costume was dead on. The Heidi...not so much.

Since you are considering the Peter Pan route, here is my family last October:

The picture is bad, but you get the idea! I had the Wendy costume made by a seller on Etsy.com She usually makes little girl costumes, but made mine via special request. We had a great time with it!
