FASTPASS test for 'Celebrate A Dream Come True' parade

Maybe they are only testing it on CADCT but ultimately have other entertainment options in their sights. Don't know. I'm intrigued. Definitely not bothered by it. I guess time will tell.

I think the people that don't like this feel its further removing the spontanaity of disney. Make ADRs for bfast, lunch and dinner, plan where to rush to get a fastpass, get fastpass to meet characters at 2:00PM. Grab fast pass to see parade at 3:00PM, etc.

I can certainly sympathize with this POV. I've never done free dining because 1. I don't think we could make it worth it and 2. It regulates your entire schedule. I like taking Disney at whatever pace I feel like. While I don't HAVE to get a fastpass it certainly seems excessive to even offer it for a parade.

But then again I'm doing the wishes dessert party and the candlelight processional dinner package so maybe I'm contradicting myself...but at least those offer additional value(but I guess that's at an added cost)....now I'm confusing myself.

In short, I don't like it...I picture people scoffing when asked if they want to get a fastpass for a parade...but maybe I'm not the target customer for this and people will appreciate it. I think its ridiculous...but I'm not exactly the usual Disney visitor either (26 and married no kids).

Utter insanity. When will they start offering FP's to use the restrooms?

And what does the current decade old parade and restrooms have in common? (insert your own joke here)

This has nothing to do with convenience and everything to do with money. That hour you spend sitting on the curb for a decent spot on Main Street for the parade (you know, when the parade was worth watching..) is an hour that you are not standing in line for the nearest cash register.

I believe at Tokyo Disneyland one must enter a lottery to see many of the shows due to the high demand.

Though I do agree it is removing spontaneity and that is likely the bigger reasoning behind this move.

TDR does indeed use lotteries, but only for its most popular stage shows, not parades.

In the case of my visits last November/December, that meant attempting the lottery for TDL's One Man's Dream II show and TDS's Christmas Wishes show. I succeeded in getting tickets once for the former and twice for the latter.

The Japanese love shows (parades as well, TDR had to enact a rule that no one can wait for a parade more than one hour prior or there would be people camping out on plastic Disney character mats on the ground six hours out!) and it is needed for some shows. But the vast majority don't require it. One Man's Dream II is a typical Disney character show (one that basically ends with any characters after 1998-99) and typical music. X-mas Wishes was the 2010 Christmas show (they change them EVERY year and are mindblowing when you compare them to decades old parades and shows at WDW), so people would want to make sure to see it.

Probably more detail than you need to know.

But no Disney park has ever done FP for a parade before. And doing it for this one is just ... well ... beyond laughable.:ROFLOL:

I vote yuck. Although I'd love to be guaranteed a good spot without showing up early, I really don't much like FPs that reserve something others don't get...it's one thing FP a line -- we all experience the same ride/show in the end. But to FP a particular viewing location for the parade...that sounds wrong.

...Wow.

It's funny how differently Disneyland and WDW are starting to view FastPass, isn't it? Disneyland is weening it of many of its attractions, while WDW seems to be trying to put it on... um... everything.

Except they did it for WoC, and if you don't have a FP for that, you generally get a crappy viewing location. At least if they limit this to front of castle, there are other good viewing spots without a FP.

Though I do agree it is removing spontaneity and that is likely the bigger reasoning behind this move.

You think Disney has a goal of removing spontaneity? That seems an unlikely motive. I'm not in favor of this (see above), but it seems to me that the goal is the same as the goal in using fastpass on attractions -- take people who would otherwise be standing/sitting around, and let them go do something else instead. The something else could be seeing an attraction, eating lunch, or shopping, all of which benefit Disney through either money spent or increased guest satisfaction (which, of course, they hope will lead to more money spent).

Spontaneity will always be there when you visit Disney World... It's the amount one will pay to have the privilege to have access to more exclusive areas that the general public doesn't really "consider". ;-)

This is true, but their shows are worth watching. Word going around is that Steve Davidson is already at work on Tokyo Disneyland's next huge parade - to replace the brand new one they got three years ago.

..That's Tokyo...

Steve said he is in works with WDW for something new in a few years. So while that could mean many things and not necessarily a parade, I think it is fantastic news that we will get to see Steves work at WDW, and whatever it is I am sure it will be awesome!

EVERYBODY: "Hey Fastpass is becoming a big problem and it hurts the park operations more than it helps it, maybe its time to step in and revamp the system, or phase it out."

TDO: *puts fingers in ears* "LALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!!"

I guess this kind of thing happens when your big decisions are made by suits who rarely, if ever, actually set foot in the parks.

The MK in 2014: "Thank you everyone for visiting the Magic Kingdom Park US Copyright 1971!" "We are so please to offer our new keys to the kingdom registered trademark fastpass US code 5872 penalty fee for copyright infringement to all our guests to be used everywhere around the Magic Kingdom Park US Copyright 1971! You will be able to book your reservation for a restroom, place in line at the bakery, in addition to entering a lottery system where you can wait with other families to see if you will get a view of Cinderella Castle patent office design concept 1969 or a view of the garbage can on the first floor." :lookaroun

I'm really wondering where this viewing is??? It can't be on the castle side of the hub. The viewing there is no different than on MS or Town Square. Plus You really cant line up there until after the 2:15 Dream Along. No one's there to stop you. It just that everyone is focused on Dream Along until like 2:40. Maybe there thinking on the castle stage? Granted you won't meet Mickey's friends. but it would offer a new look of CADCT/MESP/other parades

As for CADCT it's only 2 years old. The floats were used for 2 other parades, plus the top half of the floats are only 5 years old because MK removed the snow globes for DDCT in 2006 .
