I was there a week ago and it just depends what time what day you get there. We stood in line for 7 dwarfs forever.

Blink, blink. Breathe, breathe. Day in, day out.
Well, of course. That’s just basic planning. Rope drop 7 dwarfs/splash mountain and do vise versa at closing. That’s a typical line for those few headliners.
I’m talking about no more 40 minute waits for things like imagination.

If FP costs money, in a way, it will be a little like going back the original amusement park pricing model- the one where people bought tickets for each ride: the pricing model many small parks still use today.
I might pay for unlimited FP, but the idea of paying for each FP is unappealing.
There is something to be said for WDW without FP if the queues themselves continue to become more entertaining. If we have something fun to do in the queue, and the line keeps moving, then the whole experience becomes the attraction. That's part of why HM has always been such a great attraction. We enter the graveyard, then we enter the outer rooms of the mansion; the buggies come well after the start of the fun.

Down the street, Universal is making money by selling Express Passes at various levels. Premium passholders get the after 4 p.m. one included in the pass. It wouldn’t surprise me if Disney decides to follow suit — especially after they’ve had success selling Magic Bands. Makes me sad, personally.
Unless I'm misremembering, the only Disney site pre-COVID which didn't have a paid FP option was WDW. I'd be shocked if WDW offers an unlimited pass, like UO, due to Disney's average daily attendance and number of people willing to spring for a VIP tour for the privilege.

DLR fastpass was still fully free, the paid option to get it on your phone is actually just photopass (The reasoning for why it isnt being refunded).
Yep, Disney is selling 100+ VIP tours/day, which cost somewhere around $4K, with long waiting lists on many days. It's a very lucrative business for them.

Yeah, I hear what you’re saying, but for some, getting a lot done is the exact equivalent of having a lot of fun. To each his/her own.

Fantastic post. Really sums up WDW beautifully, at least insofar as my family and I view it.
Well even with 3 foot distancing, unless they want the ride queue for Splash Mountain extending to Main Street, they'd probably should come up with something. Soon. Before any major capacity increase.
I give a no vote for fast pass returns, everyone has the same wait time without fast pass, it is more fair for everyone rather than riders constantly cutting the lines. That and the wait line will continue to move rather than stop while fast pass people cut the lines. Also, If the standby line is inside, it is not so bad, because your not standing in the hot sun waiting for the line to move, if outside, standing in the hot sun, than you get to hate all the fast pass riders that are making you wait all the longer so you can ride, and hate is not a good thing. So bottom line NO Fast Pass at all, it should have never been started in the 1st place., I remember going to WDW in the 90's with no fast pass and was able to ride everything within the entire day, no pushing, shoving, or running, Fast pass was a bad idea than and still is.

I do realize that however, if you go to WDW maybe once in your life, do you want to spend all your time (money) waiting in line? No, of course not. So, if I was going to go to WDW for the first time or for the first/last time, I would wait until Disney finally brings back fastpass or something along those lines.

Went to DAK a couple of Sundays ago and did FOP twice, Safari, Bugs Life, FOTLK all within 3 hours. Would not be possible to do that with FP+

Unless you go during a slow time of the year and get there right at opening. We did that regularly. Of course, that was before FoP.

I still scratch my head asking what was wrong with the paper fast-pass system and in turn implementing it electronically ala Max Pass?
I understand that everyone does the parks differently, Some people say 3 rides a day is fine some say 10 rides or it was a wash.
I still to this day want to hit rope drop crush a pile of attractions (10 would be great, 15 better, but 7 is fine too) and then take the afternoon/evening easy, no attractions or one here or there if under a 30 minute wait.
That flexibility regardless of the time of year (but usually during moderate times) seemed to always be available during the paper FP days.

The great myth that pervades message boards is that people like to "go with the flow" when they go to WDW. People plan. My mom planned with a clipboard, I planned with a spreadsheet, other people planned with TouringPlans. I disagree with the idea that FP+ is what forced people to plan. People were planning anyways, they just had the added stress of wondering if it would all pan out once they hit the parks. FP+ alleviated some stress by letting people know "phew, at least I have these three must-dos taken care of that I don't have to worry about."

Agreed! FP+ did NOT force people to plan! LOL.
I LOVE planning. Before MDE I did the spreadsheet as well (laminated that too, LOL). If I am being honest FP+ ADDED stress, and ruined part of my planning experience.
With a park hopper and the way we did our park days a dining reservation just meant you needed to at least be in or near that park at dinner, where we spent your day could be flexible based on crowds or change of mind.
As much as I love planning, I also like the ability to change it up if plans go awry. With FP+ I always felt like I was "locking down" another portion of my day.
In the paper FP days I don't think I once walked away from a trip without experiencing all the E-tickets rides we wanted.
Then again those were the days of hour long morning EMH and 3 hour long evening EMH.
Lots of factors at play here, I guess, but I will say this --- More top notch C, D & E ticket attractions cures a lot of woes.
DHS is a great example. TSMM a walk on or close to it the ENTIRE length of our trip. Could you imagine that a couple o' years back?
