I wonder if they will charge for it.. Disneyland has MaxPass with a fee and Disneyland Paris has the Super FastPass for a fee. Shanghai has an ExpressPass/FastPass for a fee. If people will pay, they will charge.. haha

it’s likely some paid system is coming (the $140 a day will be “concrete standing and right to purchase a $45 breakfast buffet” fees)...but wdw is a different animal to handle as far as volume and prices.

I’m not sure they have a clue how to do this?

5th gate? Just build a new resort Bob.

Bingo. MK has approximately 1.9x the attendance of USO. And that’s not even the hard one: Animal Kingdom has 30% more attendance than USO, and doesn’t remotely approach the attraction capacity of Universal Studios.

Right and some would be welcome, but at least will have more draws

And a lot of what is being replaced wasn't very popular. Even if something has a high capacity if no one is riding it doesn't really matter .... So demand for the attractions at Epcot will increase a lot which should help shift demand away from the other parks a bit

But yes, more on top of this should happen - but at least it is something
Setting the bar awfully low for the half trillion dollar rat...aren’t you there?

Another reason they need to severely limit the amount of FPs available.

Coming soon: No more "theme park tickets", to be replaced by the "Right To Enter A MAGICAL!!! Park and Buy Other Things" fee!

Oh, you mean like a book of tickets? Maybe label them A-B-C-D and E? Where like the top tier attractions = and E-ticket, and the least popular attractions = and A-ticket?

Oh, wait. :)

So what you're saying is that Disney parks need more attractions to spread out the people in the parks. What are the new rides/attractions coming the rest of this year? What about 2022?

I mean, I said they should more 🤷

But I do think Rat and Guardians will help draw people to Epcot more than currently

temporarily...the problem is they never have a “next step” ready to go...

it’s like being down 28 points...scoring 3 touchdowns quickly...and then kneeling with the football.

Iger wasn’t particularly good at reading what the parks needed. Build one thing, underwhelm...then sit on it for a decade...

how bad is slap-o gonna be.

fans shouldn’t run businesses...no objectivity/balance.

doesn’t mean they are wrong all the time.

I don’t get the logic of it...but I never do 😎

I disagree with the bold. In my personal experience (and also using Fiege [ETA: and Rohde] as an example) people who are in love with what they do generally do an excellent job.

Chapek repeatedly made the point about how to increase yield from something he conveyed as a fixed thing. Clearly they see the parks as a bucket of fixed size and to find growth they need to change how much they get from from each person in that fixed bucket.

Break out the pocketbooks... because YIELD is the new king.

I tend to disagree, I feel like Iger spent a ton of money on the parks, especially late in his tenure, but he never focused on adding capacity, just optimizing the ride selection. That worked great at California Adventure. It doesn’t fix the problem at Walt Disney World.

spent a ton...

so far his overall record in wdw is on the underwhelm side...

what?!?!? How dare you?!?

...dare I. I’ll meet anyone out front and take a tour and state my case.

but...capacity is the focus here. If the parks are a mess...or they take the prices off the “reasonable” cliff...it will be due to mismanaged capacity.

It depends if they can balance the financial realities while still being a fan.

JJ abrams was a big “fan”: of
1. money
2. Spielberg (and his buddy and secretary by extension)
3. Playing it “safe”...which leads to a blowup when you don’t understand what you’re dealing with...

There’s no doubt Kevin smith would have done much better...so that means we live in a grey world

Eventually we will pay to park our cars, go and pay to enter the park, then pay individually for every ride at the ride entrance.

that’s almost “next exit on the Highway” at this point...isn’t it?

I just hate the business model that thinks value is achieved through constant growth. It always screws you - always.

Reinvestment leads to value...which is what they won’t address and use the “can’t always grow” excuse.
