Fantasyland/Mine Train aerial image update

He is right, they built the park in the 70's and it was designed in the late 60's doubt they knew about the numbers of guest this park would be pulling in day to day. But how could this problem be fixed, maybe partial demolition of Pinocchio's village haus and some re working of the isaw entrance?

If they relocated the IASW building back about 100 feet north of were it currently sits, that would open up a lot of space in "Old" Fantasyland, that'd be enough room to add back a dark ride or 2, and since the ISAW building is basically just a giant warehouse it wouldn't be all that difficult to rebuild...

of course I can't imagine they'd ever actually spend the money to do it though

They'd really just be better off demolishing it and PVH, moving the tunnel entrance back, building a proper IASW to match the others around the world (approximately where the forest behind the tunnel entrance is now) and extending FL back to be flush with the rest of New FL - that way it'd be a land and not a hallway and there'd be room for trees and such. *Sigh - someday...right after they expand the monorail.

If there were going to go to the trouble of demolishingrebuilding IASW, they might as well rebuilt it in the World Showcase, where it is a better thematic fit and use the freed up footprint to put in something more in line with FL (like a Tangled or Sleeping Beauty dark ride or water ride).

I think you and I are saying the exact same thing.... so I agree with you completely:D

I wonder why they have avoided painting that last section of the mountain in the front? Everything else has been painted for quite some time and they've avoided that one spot to the left of the entrance. And I agree it looks like not too much left to be done:

- Put faux grass on the mountain
- Finish entrance buildings and cottage
- Landscaping

Anyone know if there are any water features on the backside of the mountain facing mermaid or on the right facing the circus?

Not usually, but here's the latest one in "full res" (which isn't horribly impressive, it's clipped from an image taken with a wide angle lens) :)

Did you happen to fly over AK? I would imagine by now we could see the new pathways and such that they are working on from Africa to Camp Minnie Mickey area. I believe they were expanding that direction due to Avatar, but I could be wrong.

Thanks! I'm going to be at Disney World from 2/11 - 2/17 and while I hope the attraction is open, I hope more so that it is just no longer an ugly construction side with ugly walls everywhere. The last 2 times I've been, Fantasyland has been a big mess.

There is a small bridge assembled over the first lift hill, they might be installing That mine car in the fake mine entrance.

I haven't decided what to do about AK but I have some ideas. I probably won't be doing any more oblique images though. Quite a few others started doing it after I did (both private and commercial) so I imagine they'll continue. No point in over duplicating things.

May be a traffic area. I saw someone else took pictures and noted an unpainted staircase but when your using the area you want to put finish touches on that last so you don't have to worry about messing it up.

That person also had a picture of a "life raft" (life saver). That they hoped would be removed by opening lol. So if they have to have life savers around the construction does that mean the water features will be impressive?
