I have to say, they could have really watered this down, but they really did a good job. The middle has some clunky parts, but the show is so much more beautiful than before, both at DHS and DL. Keeping the music from 99 was absolutely the right choice throughout the show.

Honestly pretty good. Loved all the tech upgrades.

Some things I noticed:
  • They did replace the main fountain heads, from the center tall one to the left/right/middle sets. They go much taller then the previous one.
  • New pyro during action scene and when Mickey defeats Malificient.
  • New choreography on the finale boat. Not only do they spin again, they also look/point at Mickey! So cool
  • Pyro launchers behind stage changed in the finale. They now point towards Mickey. I'm pretty sure this was how the original show was.
  • They kept the original F! finale recording. This is a huge plus over the rerecording in DL 2.0
  • Pyro on the barges in moat also changed, very sparkly!
  • Lasers on the overhang that shoots on the mist screens and fountains, beautiful!
  • We didn't get the "projection mapping" like DL, but I prefer ours. It's better than just straight projections imo.
  • Action scene was really packed....with action. Could use some more people on stage during Aladdin.
  • New twirling fan pyro when the steamboat first appears. This is a HUGE upgrade over the old incarnation.

This is how you upgrade a classic, combining the new and old. I rather take the new action scene over the Pirates scene in DL 2.0.

Can't wait to see this eventually in person!

The middle scenes, although it has some clunky moments, is certainly better than pirates. The entire show has the tech it needed for a long time, but they did a great job with it!

While the new action sequence jumps around, it at least makes sense now (Mickey needs help from the heroes) and the show has always jumped around. It’s a dream! I like that more characters are integrated (which matches the rest of the show better than 4 minutes of Pocahontas or Pirates…) and the stunts are great.

The lighting is so much brighter than in the past!

Watching it on YouTube, wow, we really needed Fantasmic and it's better than ever, sure it does has its share of flaws(yeah..., I already nitpicked them), but the upgrades and the new hero scene all really made up for the flaws, and it tops the other two nighttime shows that we got a year ago

The prophecy is fulfilled. Almost a full year later.

Honestly surprised there were 2 people/CMs climbing the wall (again) during the Aladdin segment. This was cut down to just 1 in recent years in the Pocahontas scene.

All around great job! I would have bet money the Pocahontas canoes would have been repurposed with sails added for the Moana segment with We know the Way as the intro. The new section was great, but Aladdin and Mulan felt a little sparse. Pyro was weak. Other than that, great!

Hm. Love the lighting upgrades give or take some messy choreography. Fountains are beautiful. Did not care for the new heroes sequence, not cohesive by any means. They should've further developed the Mulan or Aladdin segments into their own Pocahontas-length sequences and scrapped everything else, those were the only parts I liked. Hated the lasers and lighting for the snake... really ugly, sorry! Loved everything from Maleficent on, especially the Steamboat Willie upgrades (the spinners spin again!!!) Overall, really happy to see Fantasmic back, they just need to edit and smooth it out in my opinion.

this is better than the 1998 version by a hair because of the loss of pocahontas, but both versions are still dead last in my ranking.

still terrible pacing, scenes go on for far longer than they should, why does mickey need help in the beginning of the show? such a clunky transition.

2017 fantasmic may have changed too much, but 2022 fantasmic changed too little.

just my opinion!
