I went ahead and made a park reservation just in case. Can’t hurt, right?
It'd be exciting to be at the premier of it's return. So many CMs there and the performing cast's friends and family. All of them screaming their excitement.

And screaming some more.

And continuing to scream... non-stop.

Just a lot of very loud and continuous high pitched screaming.

Should be fun.

From one legit insider, we've been told "before Thanksgiving."

From an occasional hit and miss insider, backed up by a legit insider, we've been told Oct 26.

It takes two months of rehearsal and they were already begun last week. That takes us to the last week of October, of which, October 26 is situated.

So......
As recently as today we are still looking good for a pre-Thanksgiving start.

I am going 2nd week of Nov (first time back to HS since it was brand new MGM in like 1990) and will be really disappointed if this isn't occurring by then. Given no official announcement or timeline, is it reasonable to expect this show will be 7 nights a week? Will they do once or twice I wonder? Given the past history?
This is still to be determined as far as I know. Priority at the moment is to get the show back running daily, anything beyond that is a bonus.

No different than Opening Day for other things!!

I really can't fathom it would take 2 months to rehearse this?

I've been in shows that rehearsed and opened in a matter of 4-6 weeks, and we are talking 2 hour + productions. This is a... 25 minute show with a cast that is not on stage the entire time.

Only thing I can think is the reprogramming is what will take time...
The rehearsal process for new cast for the old version, an established 20 year running show, still took a month and a half. It’s such a large, complex show, unlike anything else, it takes a long time.
Now you are rehearsing multiple casts of a brand new show, figuring out what actually works and doesn’t with a full cast, implementing technical elements, putting it all together, working with a lot of unknown.
Two months is frankly going to be pretty tight.

Fantasmic is a multi-million dollar production with a cast, crew, and support personnel of 70+ people on the island during show. Yes, the bridge is retracted during show, thus turning the mountain into an island. There are also 5 lifts, pyrotechnics, lasers, watercraft, fall hazards, a moat full of water, and a mechanical dragon. The show is blocked/choreographed so that all 70+ people can perform the show safely around all of these potential hazards. Add in multiple casts/crews and you have a multi-month rehearsal process. Once the cast and crew are on the island, they are "on stage" the entire time. There are no dressing rooms or places to chill during show. There is almost constant movement onstage and offstage and it works like clockwork. This takes time.

And that's assuming they didn't add or remove anything to/from the show. 70+ might be low (assuming the new princess segment uses more people or other changes got made), or high (now that the Pocahontas segment is dead). But otherwise, that's exactly right. It's really the biggest stage show Disney had had for decades (except perhaps stuff in Tokyo).
