Fantasmic Reopening Watch

Interesting to see the lighting also correspond with the B-Mode. Gotta give credit when it's due.
This actually happened again last night, except for some reason Aladdin was supposed to jump. The CM stumbled or something, which halted their jump. And because of that, the lighting was still in A-mode.

For some reason, none of the manually-operated followspot lights in the back never shone on Aladdin again during "there's so much more to me..". Wonder if there was some confusion or miscommunication.

Weird! I'm wondering if the manual spots are on an automated on/off system and there was nothing they could do at that point. Seems like the only reason something like that would happen, especially since the manual spot stayed on him as he didn't jump.

Just saw this show for the first time, wow, fan freaking tastic. I knew the old Pocahontas section was bad but it really hurt the show. The show flows so much better now and really sells the whole Mickey’s imagination running away from him. The short vignettes quicken the pace and sell the chaos that explains the villains arriving and the nightmare beginning. Bravo Disney.

And now for my hot take: DHS has the better current version. Sure the dragon and riverboat are better in CA, but that’s it.

My only quibble with the new show is that the dream sequence should end with Elsa and not Moana. The Elsa sequence has a much more dramatic ending to it than the Moana one does. If this two were flipped, it’d be damn near perfect.

Otherwise I completely agree…the show is outstanding right now.

The old Pocahontas segment really felt like a relic from the 1990s. It's also weird that in a show about the magic of dreaming and magic, the old Pocahontas segment focused on colonization with the instrumental version of "Savages" playing in the background. Like, who thought it was a good idea to spend five minutes with freakin Ratcliffe?

The new heroes segment is a vast improvement and makes the show feel much less dated. My only regret with the new show was that they weren't able to incorporate Dr. Facillier among the Disney villains somehow.

The irony is that even though our steamboat is smaller, we always have more characters on it than DL's Mark Twain.

DHS usually has 35 or 34 characters but DL usually only ranges from 31 to 33 characters.
And this is already after they cut one character/CM off DHS's boat when it had a max of 36 pre-update.

Has anyone been able to book a dining package for this show lately? I'm looking over easter week and shut out. I managed to reserve other things that are typically harder and see a lot of availability overall, just not in the F! packages.

Aladdin didn't make the jump/swing last night (3/6) and the show of course had to stop because of that since the CM is harnessed to the rope and had to be manually let down and let loose.

The show resumed at Frozen and Elsa. Aladdin's reprisal of One Jump was skipped.

As far as I know this is the first occurence of this "accident" (recorded on camera at least) since the return.
Video timestamped at jump:

One other thing, the Royal Guards haven't been doing doing any stunts, like jumping on the trampoline and falling, since like late January. Wonder what's up with that..

Pleased to report that the long-missing pyro after the opening Fantasia segment (and before flower) finally returned tonight (3/10).

Last seen Nov 15, so it's been about 4 months since. Glad to see the effect restored as this usually sets the tone for the show pyro-wise. The next pyro shot is during Mulan segment. Honestly thought this pyro was cut forever, so kudos to the F! team!

The only two remaining effects that are still cut/missing/in B-mode are the Malificient dragon fireball and the trampoline stunts.

Timestamped livestream of restored pyro:

As per friends in Fantasmic!, the fireball has been cut until futher notice. As we saw, they couldn't figure out a way to coordinate the trajectory of the pyro, so it kept landing on the stage. They've installed that new fire-breathing effect on the head and it's working safely, it just creates a disjointed experience.

Thanks for the info! I kinda figured, but not to doubt the valid concerns, but this hasn't been a concern for the past decade when the pyro would shoot into the water? It would also sometimes miss in the past and fall on the stage plenty.

Hope they figure out something eventually, but it's better then nothing I guess lol

An additional 10pm performance of Fantasmic! has been added starting April 2 through April 22.

Beginning April 23, the performance time for Fantasmic! shifts to a 9pm showing through the end of the calendar (currently May 16).
Hoping for extra shows in May
