How we go about booking it? Is it considered a dinner show and we can use our DDP? or do we just book it in advance then show up. does it cost extra?

Fantasmic is just a show. They herd you in like cattle. There is a Fantasmic dinner, where you eat at one of three restaurants in DHS and are admitted into the show early so you don't have to fight crowds. Now that you have to book.

Maybe this helps a little.

If you are referring to the dining package, I recommend you don't do it. The reserved seating they hold for people with the package is on the far sides of the theater, which means you can see backstage as they prep. It also means you will not experience all the effects as they were intended. I suggest you make an ADR at whichever resturant you want. Be sure you will be able to be at the theater 30 - 40 minutes early. Once you finish eating make your way to the theater.

If there are 2 shows on a night the late show usually involves less hanging around. For the first show I recommend getting there about an 1 1/2 hours before showtime to get central seats. Last time I went the whole amphitheater was full 30 mins before showtime.

No booking involved (unless you're doing the Fantasmic Dining Package) which is not really recommnded due to the location of the "reserved" seating area. Otherwise just turn up at the entrance - up to 90 minutes before show time (depending on how busy it is).

Its not a Dinner Show - its just another attraction - free for all and included with Park Admission

No DDP involvement

I went 2 weeks ago and as you say it was full 30 minutes before showtime - except for the reserved area. I've done the dinner package twice and will do it again. My DD likes to sit in the front row, and there have been plenty of seats there in the reserved section right up until show time.
