"Kind of like an outdoor theater on Tom Sawyer Island" lol the before and after of the island with fantasmic or the comparison between anaheim and MK is vastly different and admittedly yes, it isn't completely unnoticeable, but it really just looks like a harbor across from the more harbor-driven new orleans square urban scale/infrastructure. People who haven't seen the alternative really don't notice.
Agreed about the hope that whatever it adds surpasses any costs. Typically I can imagine how set design and lighting will look in action before I've seen it myself, but in this case I'm admittedly lost, not knowing what scene itl'll be used in and how. For instance, if it were to be used in the finale, would they project stars on it and pyro? a larger mickey or a giant backdrop to make mickey pop? and how successful would that be if it is only covering so much ground? Doesn't that then present the challenge of syncing the scale and choreography of fireworks on stage and any pyro that might be on screen? I could see that spring to life even in the introduction, as sorcerer mickey transitions to the next scene with a burst of pyro on each screen. Needless to say, eager to see the final result this weekend.
