Here's a picture of the exterior of the new Fantasia Market, replacing Concourse Sundries & Spirits in the Grand Canyon Concourse at the Contemporary. It should be opening over the next couple of days.

I'll try to get some pictures from inside once it opens. Meanwhile, since I haven't seen anyone post any, here are pictures of the relatively new signage arch for the restaurant side of the Concourse:

Sorry about the quality of this one, it's just to give you an idea of what it looks like:

Cool! Looks so different than when I was there, and it was just a little over a month ago. I take it then that the walls hiding Chef Mickeys were temporary then (I don't see them there).

Yeah, as of now, there aren't any walls there. I don't know if they're planning on doing any more work. They put in a new waiting area and photo op, and a restroom back in that corner.

That set-up looks better already...I remember that during my many stays at the Contemporary that area could become hectic with the dinner rush for Chef Mickey's & the CC Steak House...probabaly will still be but at least the queue area is more defined.

I'm going back in August, I didn't mind the old food court being on the 1st floor but I think that it's AWESOME that it's on the 4th now...I kinda like the atmosphere of the 4th floor...and hey, a spacious food court with the Monorails breezing by sounds good to me!

I really like that it is arranged like that, but I think it is rather unsophisticated for the quick-service to be in the Concourse like that. It's got great food, but it could be in a much better location, like by the pool, where it would be easier to access from all three buildings. Same thing with Chef Mickey's, it's a great restaurant but could be much more successful and appropriate somewhere else, and then the Contemporay could have something better in keeping with its theme. My thought would be that they could do a revival of the Monorail Cafe from the Disneyland Hotel, still have character dining, and do something fun like have the characters dressed up in the Monorail uniforms.

Thanks! :)
I like how the sign has the stars & moon from Sorcerer Mickey's hat. This is making me hungry too.

Yeah, I think it looks great! I think it's too bad that they just didn't leave Fantasia where it had been, and applied that aesthetic to that whole side of the Concourse under the Monorail station. And maybe do something to BVG to balance it out.

If only they could do something about the tacky exterior of the Game Station to help it blend in with the new wood exterior of Fantasia and the Market.

True, but I would imagine that the quick service is on the 4th floor because of the bridge over to BLT? Otherwise, it would be quite a hike from BLT to a food court...BLT has no food court other than a small bar by the pool if I remember correctly.

I would LOVE to see some Monorail Themed area!! :D

When I get down there in August I will request the 5th floor on BLT (that’s where the walkway connects on BLT side)...then the way I look at it - it's having a suite on the same level as the Concourse! :sohappy::sohappy::sohappy:

It wouldn't be any more of a hike than from the South Garden Wing, or the previous North Garden Wing... it would pretty much be equal access from all three buildings.

Looks awesome. I like the open look of things now.

Random question that I'll throw out...does the Contempo Cafe still have the frozen Coke maching? :slurp:
