Family kicked out of Universal Studios
By Leah Zanolla
Aug 13, 2009

After a verbal fight with another guest, an Atlanta family has been kicked out of Universal Studios and will not be allowed to return for one year. According to Cassandra Nix, the mother of the family, another guest cursed at Nix's 7-year old daughter for screaming too loudly on The Simpsons ride. Nix and her three children exited the ride and the woman began cursing saying, "Did you really have to scream that (expletive) loud? She's a spoiled brat." Nix requested that Universal security call the police to file an official complaint against the woman. The police came as requested, but instead of punishing the other woman, gave a trespassing violation to Nix and she was kicked out of the park for a year. The family was escorted off property by security. Nix had just purchased a Universal season pass, but says they will now celebrate her daughter's 8th birthday at Walt Disney World.

Why do I get the feeling there's a lot more to this story than what's in the article?

I highly doubt that if the Nix family were as blameless as stated [their only apparent offence being a over-excited daughter on a ride], the police would go forward with a trespass charge... Perhaps she was a tad abusive with the Universal Security staff?

Wait, I'm confused - the "Nixes" got kicked out for reporting someone cursing them out? Or did the woman shouting expletives get kicked out? It doesn't make sense if the Nixes were removed...

Yeah, something's afoot here. I wish we'd heard the other woman's side of the story... particularly what went on during the ride...

Something not quite right here - I'd like to see a link to the original article, not just a copy/paste. Sounds to me like the Nix family are trying to get good publicity when they appear to be the villains

Gah, it's seems like they're trying to make Universal look bad, and make Disney look like THE best place on Earth (Disney is one of the best places on earth, but I'd prefer Universal anyday).

Definitely not the full story, but I have dealt with Uni security before. Not the most helpful folks I've ever encountered (at least the two I met).

And my son went back to school here on Aug. 10. Bonus? He's out of school on May 21, early enough to sneak in a WDW trip before lots of others get out of school. :D

Sounds like a Disney viral promotion to me... :drevil:

"Her birthday will be celebrated at Disney? Wait--- Isn't Disney doing some free birthday promotion, let me google-- Oh they are! Hey we should go there for our birthdays too! We'll skip Universal because we don't want to be harassed either..."
