Well I listen to WSM, the famous Nashville country station, online (www.wsmonline.com);and I heard about this yesterday on their station. Their entertainment reporter, Jimmy Carter, said that the industry people seem to think that she was really wrong to do that, that she was having a fit.

I guess we will only know if she comments on it.

Faith Hill has laughed off speculation she was upset when Carrie Underwood beat her to the Female Vocalist Of The Year accolade at the Country Music Association (CMA) Awards on Monday night. When Underwood's name was announced as the winner, Hill was caught on camera flailing her arms and apparently shouting "What?" before walking out of camera range. Hill released a statement yesterday through her publicist responding to criticism about the sour note she appeared to have struck during the ceremony, saying, "The idea that I would act disrespectful towards a fellow musician is unimaginable to me. For this to become a focus of attention given the talent gathered is utterly ridiculous. Carrie is a talented and deserving female vocalist of the year." Hill's manager Gary Borman has also weighed in on the controversy adding, "I've worked with Faith for many years now and the idea that she would ever insult or undermine another artist, let alone another human being's success is absolutely preposterous. Those who know her know that she's incapable of such actions. She was being playful while the nominations were being read and playful after." Other nominees in the category were Sara Evans, Martina McBride and Gretchen Wilson.

I think that she probably wasn't joking, but had to come up with SOME reason for that reaction. Like Ashlee Simpson lip-syncing on SNL. Shotty excuse, but something. Either way, joking or not, it was in poor taste but she's human and she's apologized.

Maybe she and others in Country music need to realize that Carrie is the real deal, people like her music, and she has earned respect.

...and Carrie is HOTT :lookaroun

(Well, Faith is too...but Carrie has that "cute-like Hottness to her")

Don't ask what that has to do with anything...just an observation

Backpeddling :)

Anyway, even IF it was a joke, which it clearly wasn't, it's still a disrespectful joke, so her excuse still doesn't fly.

She reacted exactly how she fealt, that Carrie Underwood had not put in the "time" necessary to obtain that level of recognition.

Well, here's my deal with that. The only other person worthy of the honor this year was Martina McBride who continues to be an awesome singer, put out a great album of her take on classics, and had an awesome tour based on that album. My vote for Female Vocalist would go to Martina.

If Martina was going to lose, Carrie is my second choice. She has had a sensational year. She has released 3 singles and each has gone to number one. She has sold millions of records. I could go on and on. Yes, she's new, but so was Gretchen Wilson last year (who won in 05).

Well I have been looking at this over and over again and now it is on my myspace page (if you want to look at it there just go to the group page there and you will see me there). She knew that the camara was there and I think she "thought" that she would have won that. It is just funny looking at that over and over again.

I think she was only half-kidding. She meant it as a joke, but ... how would it occur to someone to make such a joke if it wasn't something already running through their mind?

There was a video of her doing the same exact thing when her husband beat her outfor an award in the past and he was standing with her. It was a joke. She was kidding around.
