Its my understanding that Living with the land's refurb was only making changes to the ride control system and that it wouldn't be anything visible to the normal guest.
As to the rest of this thread. My favorite line of your opening post was:

I'm also very glad to see some cleaning done to the monorail beam, I hope they do the rest of the park. It looks absolutely awful the way its been for years. I know they can't keep the entire beam pristine, but the loop through the park should always be kept clean of all that grime.
