Extra Magic Hours, Use OR Avoid?????

We are visiting from June 20th till july 4th, we have been hearing really mixed reviews of extra magic hours and was hoping you guys could maybe help us out a little, should we use extra magic hours mornings or evenings or is it true that the crowds are likely to be even worse on those days and therefore try to avoid the park that is open extra on that particular day.

Please help !!!! :veryconfu

I think from what i have read that the Extra magic hour will make the park busy for the majority of that day, but some mornings we are going to use the EMH and leave around noon for a park without EMH, because i guess not as many people will get up to be somewhere for 7:30.

If you`re on property, use the EMH when you can; the park is less crowded for the duration of the scheme. After that we found it really to be one of many factors on how busy the park will be.

We avoid the EMH like the plague! If a Park has an evening EMH, we do it the next day figuring everyone has been there the night before

The EMH are a great way to get on a lot of rides with little or no wait. The evening EMH at MK are the best. A lot of rides are open and some you can walk on & some you can run on. Make your favorite ride the last one for the day. If you're in line before they close the ride, you will get on no matter how many people are in line. We rode TOT one night with just 6 people on the ride, then made it to RnRC before they close off the line to ride it too. We were also one of the last to the bus & walked onto it also. Go for the EMH.

The first time I did EMH my sister and I went to Epcot just for EMH, we had just gotten to WDW that night. It was probably one of the best times I had at Epcot, we walked right onto Mission Space, and Soarin' wasn't open yet. But if you have park hopper or annual/seasonal passes go to a different park in the day and then go to the park with EMH just for EMH

Its hard to do an evening EMH followed by a morning EMH. Our last trip week long trip we tried to avoid the evening (except the last night at MK). The last hour (around 1am) the crowds got smaller, but by then we were headed to the room. With your party being at the world for two weeks give them a try and see what you think. If you can get up and going the mornings are worth it I feel, especially when it will be a little cooler in June and July.

We avoid evening EMH because it is so crowded and no ability to get fastpasses. SOmetimes we do the morning EMH but only for a couple of hours, and when it starts to get crowded, we move to another park. Whenever we give evening EMH a chance again, I'm always sorry, it is super crowded.

As far as using or not, it seems to be hit or miss. Sometimes it is awesome and you can do a lot, other times at night, not so much. However, someone gave us a great tip once - they said go the next morning (when it opens) to the park that had EMH the night before. We have done this a bunch of times and it really seems to take longer for it to get busy.

IMHO...use the EMH, especially the morning hours. Get in, get on whatever rides/attractions you really want to see, then, when it starts to get REALLY crowded (AND REALLY HOT), take a break...go back to the resort for a swim. Return later in the day (when crowds are thinning), or go to another park and enjoy whatever they have to offer.

Never used them myself but the strategy is to use the Morning EMH and spend the day at that park or just visit a park during EHM hours. Basically if on Monday MK has Morning EMH we would spend the day there (using the morning hour!). If EPCOT has a Evening EMH then we would spend the day else where moving over to epcot just for the EMH.

EMH can be good and bad. If you get to a park right when it opens at 8 (or earlier if it is busy season) then you will be able to get on a bunch of things before the crowds really start coming in around 10. You won't want to stay in the park much later than 10:30 though because the extra resort guests and then regular day guests usually make the morning EMH park the most crowded.

The evenings can be hit or miss depending on the season. I have noticed that the park is usually pretty crowded until the last hour or so because a lot of resort guests look to take advantage of the benefit. The more popular rides are usually pretty crowded just like during the day. However, it is a fun way to just get a few extra evening hours in the parks.

As long as you view the evening hours as just extra hours in the park, you'll love them. Don't expect all the crowds to be gone and have walk on wait times. But I love being in the parks at night and this does give some extra night time in them. Also the last hour usually isn't THAT bad crowd wise. And the biggest thing to remember, this program is really the only way you can experience the Animal Kingdom at night. Probably my favorite park at night.

Here's our stragedy when it comes to extra magic hours-

in the morning, we use them to ride

in the evening, we just take strolls through the parks and if we come across a short line, we'll ride

We did 2 EMH days - MGM & AK. MGM was crowded, but bearable, the longest line was RNRC @ 70 minutes, even thru the late hours. AK was a nightmare, we rode Safari and Everest, left by 10AM, and went back the next day.

EMH morning is fantastic! Especially at AK where you have to dash to the back of the park for the Safari. It is nice to have some time to get there while it is still cool out.
