Extra Magic Hours Tips

Do you guys have any tips for Extra Magic Hours (morning and evening) for the four theme parks?

For Epcot morning EMHs, what do you suggest I do within that hour time period? What attractions in what order?

For Animal Kingdom, I plan to do all the animal rides/shows in the daytime as they close at 5pm. Then during EMHs, do Expedition Everest and other rides.

At Epcot my top EMH ride would be Soarin', then choose between Test Track or Mission Space.

If you're going to do EMH at the Studios, try for morning and do Toy Story or at least get a fast pass for later in the day, but get there first.

I second the vote for Soarin' at Epcots early EMH. In fact, our family enjoys Soarin' so much they always want to ride it twice in one day (minimum). So we always grab fast passes FIRST, then go ride the ride, then use the fast passes. If there is extra time in between we hit some of the other attractions. Or one in our group will even run over to TT and grab our next set of FP's as soon as our time is available. Then ride Soarin' the second time.

I too would go for Test Track or Soarin'

I don't actually enjoy Soarin' that much so whilst I will probably ride it, I will not wait more than 30mins for it. Going during EMH should make things easier.

If your going during a busy time and with kids you might want to look at riding Nemo first thing too (is that open during EMH?)

We like to do Test Track and Spaceship Earth during morning EMH. Then as soon as we can, get an FP for Soarin'.
Doing Everest during EMH is a good idea!

In the mornings, pick out what you want to do multiple times. Get a fast pass. Ride it stand-by as many times as the short line will allow, then ride it again with fast pass (or save your fast pass for later in the day). Then get another fast pass for later.

For example: At Epcot, we bee line for Soarin. Get fast passes. Ride it. Then ride it with Fast Pass. Then get another Fast Pass for later. Same goes for Space Mountain at MK, Toy Story at DHS and EE at DAK.

Just depends on what you want to do.

For the evenings, there's no real tips except it thins out as the night goes on. So, if you can make it to the last hour, you're golden.

Have Fun!

What tips do you have for a morning at MK and an evening at Epcot? Keeping in mind with MK, Space Mountain will be closed.

Depends on whether you have small kids or not. Mine are 15 and 12.

Also, I don't know if Splash and BTMR will be open for AM EMH with SM closed. They are normally not. Let's first assume that one or the other will be.

So for me if I were going this year, at AM EMH at MK, with SM closed, I'd do Splash and BTMR first, or FP one if standby is more that 30 min. and ride the other.

The rest requires a lot of doubling back, but I think it's worth it to make the most of it. This will only work if you were there at rope drop.

In order, Buzz, Pooh, SWSA, Pan, IaSW, HM, POC. Skip ones you don't particularly care for.

An alternate plan, if Splash and BTMR are not open until the general admission time (and one that probably works better if SM is open), is to leave Splash and BTMR until right after HM. If you do this, it is more likely you will have to FP one, and you might have a long wait on the other, because of the SM closure. If SM is open, go there first, by all means (before everything else).

By the time you ride the above, the crowds will be fairly high, because it is more crowded on EMH AM day, as you have the resort guests attracted there early, plus the normal load of the day visitors. So if you have hoppers, I'd consider another park at this point. On a busy day, it will be lunchtime.

For evening Epcot, I'm not sure. PM EMH will attract more crowds to Epcot in the afternoon. So if they are FPing rides for EMH time (I can't recall how that works) get FPs to either Soarin' or TT. If you are not watching Illuminations, try to ride Soarin' and TT during Illuminations. If you cannot FP or the wait time is too long, try again later. The rest of the attractions I have experienced very reasonable wait times during evening EMH. I was there late August, and SSE, Land, Am. Adventure, Nemo, JII, HISTA, El Rio del Tiempo, Maelstrom were all walk-on, and M:S was not a long wait. O Canada was closed. After figuring out what to do about Soarin' and TT, make a plan that allows you to minimize your walking and see as many of the others as time permits that you are interested in (you may not be able to do them all in the three hours). We skipped Am. Adventure, because it was so far from the others. We also skipped Nemo, Land, and Maelstrom, because we had already done these. But mostly they were walk-on most of out trip, so EMH should not be a problem.

Does anyone else have a better Epcot Evening EMH plan? Do they run FP for evening EMH? Does anyone know if they open Splash and/or BTMR during AM EMH go compensate for SM being closed?

For Epcot morning EMH, one of the group go to FP Soarin', the rest get on the standby line for TT. If TT opens and you get up to the building entrance before the FP guy, just simply let others pass you until he gets there. This will probably only happen on a light crowd day.

Then M:S, and then LWTL. Ride Soarin' if your FP time come up. Otherwise continue

At this point, it may be general admission time. If you would get to the Seas about opening time, then go ride Nemo, and see TT with Crush. Then JII and HISTA. Then back to the Land for Circle of Life, and if you haven't ridden Soarin' yet, do it now (if it's time).

Keep in mind that Morning EMH will make Epcot more crowded when the day visitors are admitted. If you have hoppers, you might consider another park at this point, depending on your preferences.

If your FPs have not come up yet, not, eat lunch, if it's time, and/or ride SSE. Consider Universe of Energy. It's a long ride. Then El Rio, and Maelstrom, along with the nations, or park hop.

AK at night is WONDERFUL! You'll have a great time. It's usually not too crowded, even at the high season. I believe there is one showing of the FOTLK. If you've seen it earlier, though, this is a great crowd eater. Toward the end of EMH, most of the year, it's dark, and a completely different atmosphere. (in the summer it's 6pm for general closing instead of 5).

ITTBAB also runs, but I prefer to do that in the day to cool off.

I don't think a plan is that important for evening EMH at AK. Have fun!
