NO - You can pick up your wristband in multiple places throughout the park. They put up big boards that say "Extra Magic Hours Wristbands" with a big arrow pointing to the people passing them out. They are also available at the front gates for those entering. You do not have to leave the park to get your band -- they pass them out in all the lands starting about two hours before the EMH start.

I think OP was looking to snag a wristband from someone who is a resort guest and thereby entitled to it.

The wristbands are quality plastic that, once attached, have to be cut off to remove. No-one coming out of the parks would be able to give you theirs. EMH is a privilege afforded to guests staying at Disney resorts.

Ethics 101

Absolutely correct -- I guess I was assuming this was an honest poster asking the question -- you need to show your room key, and they personally fasten it around your wrist. You can not remove it without tearing the plastic which makes it invalid.

Roush - not sure you understand how it works. EMH (and the wristbands) are for Resort Guests only. Otherwise, the park closes at the standard time and you will be asked to leave the park. You won't be able to get on any of the rides without the wristband, so standing in line is mute, you'll be going home with everyone else at 9 pm or 10 pm or whatever time close is. You can stay inside the park and grab something to eat, or walk around - but you won't be able to get onto any of the attractions.

EMH works like this, certain parks close certain times so lets say MGM is open till 9 and they have a EMH that night, look for CM who are giving out wrist bands now you have a few more hours in the park, THIS IS FOR RESORT GUESTS ONLY!! there is no way around it. Same thing goes for the Morning EMH, I would Suggest get in line about 45 min to an hour before they give them out, they tend to go fast and they only give a certain amount out. depending on the park you can get them at all guest services, at the gates befoe you enter and through out the parks. They are worth it because The parks are usually empty druning an Night EMH...

hope I helped you understand..

Next time, tell your parents about the benefits of staying on property.

You will not be getting a wristband without showing them your Disney resort room key, which is checked by a cast member with a scanner who will then personally tie the hard to get off without ripping wristband.

Well...that depends on when you go -- sometimes EMH are WORSE than during the day because all the resort guests pour into that park on that night -- I have been to evening EMH at MK that still had two hour waits for rides like Space Mountain and an hour for Splash Mountain....at peak it doesn't give you much more than extra time in the park...at non-peak times it is amazing.

I've always found the first hour of evening EMH's to be very crowded, but find that by hour 2, crowds have really thinned. By the 3rd hour, I've found you can walk on to nearly every ride.

I've also never had a problem getting a wristband for EMH. Do they really run out? I've never queued up 45 minutes to an hour before distribution began. Have I just been lucky all this time?

Dude, no offense, but you pretty much asked the question on your previous post and you got the same answer. If you don't like the answer, do not ask the question. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result.

"Extra Magic Hours" is a perk ONLY given to people who stay at a Disney resort. It's one of the things that a travel agent uses to entice people to spend the extra money to stay at a Disney resort. Because of this, ONLY people staying at a Disney resort get access to this perk. There is the slim possibility that you'll find a cast member who is either a: incredibly sympathetic, or b: absolutely fed up with the job and itching to get fired, who will give you a wristband. DON'T count on it. You can also hang out in the parking lot in the hopes of finding someone with tragically skinny wrists who can wriggle out of his/her wrist band, and than if YOU have tragically skinny wrists you can wriggle it on as well. DON'T count on it. Just enjoy the time you will have there for as long as you can.

Look at the bright side: On New years' Eve, there will probably be a loooooong line just to GET the wristband. How much would it suck if you waited on THAT line, only to show them your room key for your NON-Disney resort, and then have them tell you they can't give you a wristband. You get upset, whine that you waited on line all this time and why didn't somebody TELL you this SOONER, and they say they're sorry, no can do. You demand to see a supervisor, wait a half-hour for the supervisor to show up, only for him or her to tell you sorry, no can do. Now you've wasted all this time for a perk you're not gonna get, because if they give it to you, they'll have to give it to every non-Disney-resort-guest, and if you keep complaining they'll wind up siccing security on you. OR you can just do as much as you can before the official closing of the park.

During peak time yes it can happen.

Um, Disney never asks a guest to leave the park. They can stay all they want, they can even shop and eat. The only thing they can't do is ride the rides. x_x Even at MVMCP, they don't "kick people out" persay but they do try to "escort" them out when 7pm comes rolling on by.

As for wristbands running out, it's never ever happened to us on a fully peaked time. I do wrist bands every tuesdays and thursdays and fridays and when it was time count them, our location in east breezeway always had sufficent amounts of them left over for the night. And this was with 30 to 49 thousand that day. Not all of those people resort guest mind you.

Plus for this coming week, we're having extra magic hours on tuesday and thursday and innoventions will be staying open till 9pm I believe. OY!! X_X I'm glad I'll be doing illuminations all week long and I hope to do it on New years eve!! :sohappy:

I was a little worried when someone mentioned waiting in line 45 min to get one, and they may run out. I've never done EMH, but plan on trying it out at Epcot the second week of January. From what I've heard of January crowds, I don't think I'll have that problem...hopefully *crosses fingers*
