Extra hours at parks??? wrist bands???

Um, Disney never asks a guest to leave the park. They can stay all they want, they can even shop and eat. The only thing they can't do is ride the rides. x_x Even at MVMCP, they don't "kick people out" persay but they do try to "escort" them out when 7pm comes rolling on by.

As for wristbands running out, it's never ever happened to us on a fully peaked time. I do wrist bands every tuesdays and thursdays and fridays and when it was time count them, our location in east breezeway always had sufficent amounts of them left over for the night. And this was with 30 to 49 thousand that day. Not all of those people resort guest mind you.

Plus for this coming week, we're having extra magic hours on tuesday and thursday and innoventions will be staying open till 9pm I believe. OY!! X_X I'm glad I'll be doing illuminations all week long and I hope to do it on New years eve!! :sohappy:

A new thing I saw them starting at the MK. They would not let guests without the wrist band past a certain part in frontierland. I had a cast member almost trip over himself to stop me until he saw my wrist band. I had no idea he was yelling at me until he caught up.
If I do see that happen again I will make sure to video it and post it here. That was just wrong. Maybe he was a little excited.
I do not believe that is needed. If a regular guest wants to walk around after regular hours that is fine, just keep them off the rides and filling our lines up.

By the way, they were using the same technique during MVMCP on Monday Night -- there were cast members throughout the park with signs that said "Merry Christmas" and red and green flashlights - and they were checking to make sure you had wristbands on, otherwise directing you to leave the park. They had them on Main Street, Frontiertown, Fantasyland, and in Tomorrowland that I saw. They were quite active in sending people packing and out of the park.

Actually, that is incorrect. At MVMCP this week, a cast member was asking to see wrist bands of people who were sitting around waiting for the first castle show. If they didn't have it, they were asked to leave the park.

I think what's happening is, a lot of non-Disney guests are just walking and shopping and acting incognito, and they're not necessarily the first people to be asked to leave. But at certain parts of the parks, there's no reason to walk further unless you plan on experiencing an attraction, and I'm sure some people have tried to slip on a line for, say, Splash Mountain, figuring that they certainly won't tell you that you van't ride after you've been on line, would they? Especially if you start making a scene in front of everyone? It's easier just to let you ride, right?

So Disney is trying to diplomaticllay enforce the rules as opposed to democratically. Don't just arbitrarily stop people and ask to see wristbands, which is a little Gestapolike. Just refuse them from getting on the rides, then refusing them access to te areas where the rides are, and slowly push them towards Main Street, where it's either shop or leave.

I think there's a difference between MVMCP and regular EMH in the parks.

With MVMCP, there are freebies throughout the park [cookies and hot chocolate comes to mind] and the fireworks are 'special', there are other add-ons such as 'snow' on Main Street. Having a wristband means you have paid for all of that. CMs sending non-paying guests out of the parks makes sense.

With EMH, the wristbands gets you extra access to rides/attractions, it's easier to control who does and doesn't get access. Staying in the parks without a wristband means you can eat or shop, but that's it. Disney would like the idea of limiting people to activities where all the can do is spend money!

If you're foolish enough to wait in line without a wristband, I wouldn't have any sympathy, no matter how much 'fuss' you tried to make.

Hi at the MNSSHP in oct. the cast members were telling eveyone trying to get through the hub arms up with the wrist bands and til you did that you were not getting through anyone with out one was told move down main street and exit. and When we were there in oct. at magic kingdom we did not get our wrist bands for about any hour and a half after the extra magic hours begin we keep saying we need to go get one of those wrist bands but the kids would say after this ride. And no one said a thing or even looked for them that night we all had on light jackets so you could not see our wrist and we rode at least 4 rides like that.

During our stay at the AKL in May, we noticed that there were several CM's positioned at the breezeway leading through to Energy/Test Track/Space, they were actively checking for wrist bands as guests approached them, and turned several off-property guests around.

Only resort guests were allowed to pass.

When I got my evening EMH wristbands in November, they were politely telling guests who were not resort guests (but lined up to get them anyway) that they were welcome to "enjoy the shopping and dining on Main Street," but that unfortunately, they wouldn't "be able to experience any attractions tonight." They then told them that the park would re-open for everyone at 9 the next morning.

So, at that point, they were allowing non-resort guests to stay and spend money.

When they have a Mickey's Very Merry Christmas party they inform those that did not pay to attend that the park promptly closes at 7:00 PM. As I was exiting the park at 6:59 we saw these guy's who were apparently ready to deal with the people in the park with out wristbands.
