CBJ is my childhood. I had the paper-doll set and a viewmaster cartridge. Just my absolute favorite attraction ever. I remember back when it was a main event player. Anything to help is welcome, although I am still irritated they cut out "Devlish Mary" which was my third favorite song from the original show....and yes please on the Christmas show!
My girls were just saying how they wished they still did the Christmas show at CBJ. We will be heading down for Christmas this year and were watching some old home movies....including Christmas at CBJ. Then I read this thread and had to break out our O Mickey Where Art Thou CD!
I'm glad I am not the only one that noticed that. I like all of it, of course, but I especially love its rendition of "You've Got a Friend in Me."It is an amazing CD. My girls were little bitty when it first came out...and instead of the traditional kiddie CD's that was the go to music CD to make them happy on car rides....we were the luckiest parents ever! It is still a family favorite and a must do on every road trip!
Do you think they don't do some of these Christmas overlays anymore because people visiting that time of year want to see the original attraction and complain about the overlays? I know it's likely just laziness but it could be a factor.
That's pretty much what I had figured. I'm still unsure of which way I would prefer. On the one hand I feel like I would miss the original attraction if I happen to always visit at the same of year with the overlay. The other side is that something fresh to the attractions be been on tons of times is also a nice change. That was pretty much the explanation I received about HM when on the Keys to the Kingdom tour. DL guests are mostly AP holders so they want something that will keep them interested. WDW routinely has first time visitors and visitors from overseas who want to see the attraction as intended. You can get away with Jingle Cruise because it's pretty much the same ride with Christmas decorations scattered about and a different wacky script for the skippers.

And did you find the "I Will Go Sailing No More" song (not sure right now if that is the actual title) as haunting and good as I did? They picked the right voice in Charlie Louvin, a senior near the end of his life and career, for the sentiment of that song.

It's no longer done because it's CHEAPER THAT WAY, As intended includes the Christmas overlay. which was around forever till Iger and his boyos came to O-town.
