Exterior Refurbishment of Country Bear Jamboree

I was lucky to see it in 2003 and afterwards it never returned..It's a real shame as this one would be nice since there's hardly anything else attraction wise that get's the holiday overlay besides the castle and with CBJ guests could understand if it goes down for refurb as it's not a high priority on guests agenda.

So since it's almost the holidays...Why not..

CBJ is my childhood. I had the paper-doll set and a viewmaster cartridge. Just my absolute favorite attraction ever. I remember back when it was a main event player. Anything to help is welcome, although I am still irritated they cut out "Devlish Mary" which was my third favorite song from the original show....and yes please on the Christmas show!

The Disney Experince site has great paper model version of the CBJ Playhouse you can download..

My girls were just saying how they wished they still did the Christmas show at CBJ. We will be heading down for Christmas this year and were watching some old home movies....including Christmas at CBJ. Then I read this thread and had to break out our O Mickey Where Art Thou CD!

Isn't that a fantastic CD?

I love that CD. If you know anything about country and bluegrass musicianship (the go-to studio musicians, not necessarily the star names), you will recognize that whoever put that record together had great connections in Nashville, and put a labor of love into it. The people chosen to play and sing on that record are the real thing. Even the Jordanaires sing on it. (They backed up every major act from the Elvis to Patsy Cline to George Jones to more contemporary acts in the early 2000s.) I loved Charlie Louvin doing his take on the Dumbo classic about sailing no more. Colin Ray brilliantly weaved the country anthem, "Will the Circle Be Unbroken," into "The Circle of Life." And of course the actual musicians in the studio were awesome. Check it out if you have not.

It is an amazing CD. My girls were little bitty when it first came out...and instead of the traditional kiddie CD's that was the go to music CD to make them happy on car rides....we were the luckiest parents ever! It is still a family favorite and a must do on every road trip!

I'm glad I am not the only one that noticed that. I like all of it, of course, but I especially love its rendition of "You've Got a Friend in Me."

And did you find the "I Will Go Sailing No More" song (not sure right now if that is the actual title) as haunting and good as I did? They picked the right voice in Charlie Louvin, a senior near the end of his life and career, for the sentiment of that song.

Do you think they don't do some of these Christmas overlays anymore because people visiting that time of year want to see the original attraction and complain about the overlays? I know it's likely just laziness but it could be a factor.

That was pretty much the explanation I received about HM when on the Keys to the Kingdom tour. DL guests are mostly AP holders so they want something that will keep them interested. WDW routinely has first time visitors and visitors from overseas who want to see the attraction as intended. You can get away with Jingle Cruise because it's pretty much the same ride with Christmas decorations scattered about and a different wacky script for the skippers.

That's pretty much what I had figured. I'm still unsure of which way I would prefer. On the one hand I feel like I would miss the original attraction if I happen to always visit at the same of year with the overlay. The other side is that something fresh to the attractions be been on tons of times is also a nice change.

It's a little hard to tell in this picture, but the posts in front of the Country Bear facade were painted:

Brings me to tears every time I hear it.....they really knocked it out of the ballpark with that cd...and to be honest I don't think it was a smash hit...but I sure appreciate it to this day!

It's no longer done because it's CHEAPER THAT WAY, As intended includes the Christmas overlay. which was around forever till Iger and his boyos came to O-town.
