Considering how many busses I see just sitting (for whatever reason, but they're still there unused), I hope some of them get put to use and they aren't taking anything away from the free service.

I personally don't see a big problem with this offering, so far. Yeah it's probably another money grab but it sounds slightly beneficial. If I didn't have my own car I'd probably consider it.

We're locals with our own car and this is way faster. Obviously it's a bit cost prohibitive over a year, but for a week, it's very cheap

Please don't consider how many buses you see idol. It has no bearing on anything. They cannot operate a free service and run every single bus every single minute of the day. There are high needs times and low demand times. You don't run a fleet of buses every minute just in the off chance the someone might need a ride in between the already scheduled ones. Also they have to have a certain number of buses as backup in the event of other transportation interruptions. Drivers are humans, the last time I looked and they are not on vacation. Their minds stay a lot sharper if they have breaks or lunch just like the guests seem to be concerned about eating from time to time. Sometimes you are seeing buses that are involved in safety pre-checks as a shift change occurs, require by law in most places. My point is that there are reasons for idol buses and it isn't because of money grabs or anything other then reality requirements for operation of a fleet as big as the one at WDW. I will maintain that the number of buses that they currently run are sufficient for everyone except the people that demand the unreasonable. For them Disney has devised a pay as you go set up. If it is that important for you to get there a few minutes quicker, you pay the price and like magic, there it is. Otherwise you take the already logically scheduled system.

It is important to remember the environmental impact that running additional buses for no real urgent reason is a huge waste of resources just so someone can get to DAK five minutes sooner. It requires addition expenditures on bus wear and tear, additional staffing, additional cost of fuel, added pollution and for what?

I'm only surprised they haven't already. Universal charges around $85 per person per day for both parks for their unlimited express pass aka fast pass. As an annual passholder who is fortunate enough to take occasional single day trips that just might kill it for me. It would be bad enough to pay that amount for a single vacation trip but not the way we do disney. It would just make the cost ridiculous.

Just a matter of time folks enjoy it while
It lasts

Those Tier 1 rides you are gonna pay for those.... in the fever dreams of TDO excutives

I do think it will be fascinating to see what Disney does with the new attractions when they come on board. I still kind of think they will expand on their early morning magic (or maybe a corresponding after hours event at DAK and DHS) format to "sell" access to the new stuff, but leave "free" fastpass as it is.

Look, technology that would make riding the Disney buses actually cool

We can't have that because everyone here hates screens. So I guess we are going to have to go elsewhere for that experience, unless, Disney ignores that and does it anyway. I haven't had the chance to see it yet, but, isn't that the technology that is used on the Harry Potter train at Uni?

Mostly. Hogwart's Express is hi def screens as windows on one side and a shadow projection on the semi-opaque window on the other side. It isn't transparent glass that transforms into a opaque touch screen.

But if that tech becomes more available. Well, then, any bus ride anywhere, even a cross town bus in a small city can become more spectacular than the Hogwart's Express!

They really should add an option with an AP. I can think of many possibilities.

Just 2 possibilities....

A complimentary one day pass with all APs to hook people.

And buy four '7 day passes', get one free. Skies the limit with possible scenarios.

Just got back from Disney Beach Club. Happy to say that the wait time was minimal and of the 6 days there, I only hit one overcrowded bus. I looked for the Express Service but could not locate it at the Parks. I had a club room and no one at the font desk ever mentioned the service.

I think this is a great option for seniors. Speaking of which, my parents are going next month. How do I add this service to their tickets? Any saved steps are a big help for their hips and knees!

We are seniors, and we don't really want to do this shortcut. You see, we really love the entrances to the parks and feel it is part of the "show". So, we will trek in the regular way and take it all in. We both have mobility issues, and my husband will rent a cart when we enter the park. You might want to ask your parents if they really want to bypass the entrances or not, because they might feel they are missing something if they pass it by. Just a thought:)

They are DVC members, and have been there/done that more than a few times. ;) They are stopping for a few days before a cruise and doing a park hopper just because they only have 2 park days. I think it is going to be more about seeing the highlights for them: Soarin, Pirates, The Peoplemover ;), the safari, and the Lion King. I really think my dad should get a cart, but he won't... He his stubborn that way!

I'm just a few months from being a 'senior' and am fully mobile and will avail myself of the Express because I'm damned lazy!
