Expo's MK updates cranes, stages, and murals

Hey everyone, here is some quick updates from yesterday at the MK.

Crane was over the castle throughout the day removing the x-mas lights. Galaxy demo continues, stitch stage continues.

Bay Lake tower north scaffolding removed. Had my first dolewhip and loved it! Citrus Swirl now sold at Aloha.

A few old 1971 tomorrowland lamposts remain.

Saw the character mural at the exposition hall! Even though you're not supposed to. :lookaroun

The flower thing near the tiki room continues to live on in some way since 1971.

Yesterday was chilly and overcast.

Crowds were light to medium.

Rode Spc Mtn three times.Two on the right track, one of the left track. The left track is bumpyyyyyy.

Payed last respects to 180top astronauts and roboboy and robodog in the postshow.Hope they come back from the refurb.

Lots of folks seemed to enjoy the windows in the queue that look out into space. hopefully they will come back but refreshed.

Loved the HM and Country Bears refurb!

CoP saw generous crowds throughout the day. Lots of folks would have their picture taken with buzz or stitch then go on the ride.

TTA was evaced and Spc Mtn closed for a while because of it.

There is a 2009 collection of retro merch at the emporium. In addition to some of the items for women, there is now the wdw D logo and font in white against some items such as shirts and mugs with 2009 next to it!!!

I can't find the black shirt that had the big D logo in red on the back that said walt Disney world....anyone know the SKU# for this?

loved the jungle cruise queue...the music and atmosphere.

And that character mural, is that near where the original Walt Disney Story film was shown on Main Street? I feel like I've seen it before.

Awesome! Yes its the black shirt with Magic Kingdom on the front and then walt disney world on the back in red.

I tried to get a pic of the 2009 retro merch but a CM told me I couldn't take pictures of the merchandise. :lookaroun :shrug:

Yup the mural was in the queue for the walt disney story. A CM would tell folks about it.

if you enter the main street exposition hall, go all the way to the right...past the pins, the merchandise, etc...keep going right past the desks for the photopass, and then you'll be in a room with a glass display case of photos I think taken by kodak over the years of the wdw resort, at the end of this room is a curtain and a tinnnnny little sign that says castmembers only :lookaroun if you zig zag through the corridor you enter another room used for taking pictures with characters, past this room is one more curtain, look through the curtain and on your left is the mural. If a CM catches you, well perhaps you were looking for a restroom or a churro cart :lol:

You mean 180 top, as in SSE? I had no idea that is where those astronauts were from! You learn something new everyday!!

Yup, Martin was able to gather the information on them,but it is indeed them just redressed up.

SSE closes in 1994, SM goes through a slight makeover for new tomorrowland, and the 180top astronuats wind up on ryca-1 fxport thing :lol:

BTW....I have this feeling about the CoP....

so they have been refurbing these rides hmmmmmm :drevil:

the classic attractions hmmmmmm

so main street you have shops come and go, with the main street transporation gets refurbed here and there and the train as well

then you have the swiss family get some light touch ups here and there

*tiki room hasn't gotten a refurb in a while

*jungle cruise...I can't remember

PoTC has been refurbed, as had big thunder, and splash gets one once a year or so

the riverboat got one a few years ago, and Tom Sawyer Island gets general help here and there

country bears and HM have been refurbed and HoP is undergoing one

IASW, peter pan, and others have gotten refurbs

Spc Mtn and TTA will be getting one....stitch and monsters are new....buzz will be getting one, astro orbiter got one

CoP will be needed to take crowds in the Spc Mtn area

so................CoP refurb after spc mtn reopens late 2009? Hmmmmmm

Do you mean the blue top and tan pants that the servers wear or the atrocity that the hosts wear with the paisley tunic, leathery pants that puff out at the knee and brown knee socks?

Expo, did you notice a difference in some paint jobs in Tomorrowland? I hadn't been in a few weeks, and I noticed right-hand building when you enter Tomorrowland (MILF building) was painted a deep purple, which I don't remember. Also, the walls around the "Lunching Pad" at Rockettower Plaza were painted a very pastel, teal-green color. This could be stuff I hadn't noticed before, but it looked new to me. :shrug:

If I remember correctly, the deep purple color was painted on in Tomorrowland this past summer/spring I think... I remember someone posting a pic on here.
