Expedition Everest Restraint Question

I'm a large mammal (6'3" 290lbs) and was wondering if someone could help me out now that people are getting a chance to ride Everest.

I have seen pics of the restraints and they appear to be individual lap bars similar to those on Big Thunder Mountain. My question is are the comparable, room wise, to those on Big Thunder Mountain?

I'm heading down for the AP/DVC preview and can't wait to take a ride. See you all there!!!!

Thanks in advance,
Sunking

I'm 6'7 and 300lbs.

Everest, in my opinion, has the roomiest ride vehicles I have ever seen. It appears that the designers finally realized that Americans are larger than what is considered "average," and I am completely impressed with the amount of leg room, lapbar give, and overall space the vehicle and restraints offer.

Actually the very first words out of my mouth after leaving the station on the attraction were, "Ah... roomy!"

Do the restraints have enough room for leg width? The ROTM coaster has a narrow gap for the legs (I'm an offensive tackle if that gives you an idea).

Yeah everest has some very large vehicles. My friend works at ROTM and i brought him over to ride everest today. The first thing he said was that the vehicle seating space was very large and he like it.

My husband had the same fear. He is 6'3 and 300 lbs (football player) and thought there was no way he would be able to ride. Not that he CAN'T ride any of the other rides, he is just paranoid :lookaroun

This is a good thing. i'm like 6'4"/240, but I always have issues with the width of my body and height of my knees more than my tremendous gut. :lookaroun Usually I just slide my self in to take care of width and I have to kind of cross my legs at the ankles to fit in under the restraints on Big Thunder. Glad they took my voluptuos figure  into consideration.

That sounds great, I'm 6'6" and about 245, I've never really been comfortable on some of the attractions, this seems like I may finally not be sick because I'm stuffed into a car for a 5 year old. I have to try it to see if the rest of the family can handle it, thanks.

I'm 6'3" and one of the first thoughts I had was how roomy it was. Extremely smooth ride and very comfortable. A lot of leg room, especially compared to RoTM.

Everest is definitely going to be a great family attraction.

I am 5'10 and I know that may not seem THAT tall but I HATE when my knees bump the bar or wall. My knees KILL me on that "Primevil Whirl" ride, and I think my knees bump on Big thunder Mountain. I am glad to hear that my knees will be spared on this ride!!

I'm very glad to hear about the spaciousness as well. My husband is of similar build, but only 5'7". I've noticed that even though I am only 5'1", I still have problems with some of the rides because they do not give people much leg room. Also, it feels like you're sitting in one of those kindergarten chairs while trying to talk to your child's teacher. It has very little to do with one's abdomen and more to do with the angle of the seats. Thanks for pointing this out.
I weigh about 180lbs, but most of it is due to my ample bosom. I have had problems with certain restraints (i.e. Mission:Space) because it feels like they are crushing my chest. I sometimes have to ask the CM to release the restraints and try again to avoid feeling like I'm having an asthma attack.

We're in the same boat. My knees touch on Splash Mountain, PotC/IASW, Dinosaur, among others. If I were an inch or two taller, I would be in really bad shape. And I have trouble with the width on the seats at the IOA roller coasters because for some reason, they wanted to add unneeded padding on the sides.

It's good to hear Disney is starting to give us tall people more room.

I too, am a "large mammal" and was able to ride EE.

A suggestion though... sit in the first row of a car (not necessarily the first row of the train). The first row has the most leg room, followed by the rear row in a car, followed by the middle row.

I first sat in the first row of a car - no problem. Then the last row - somewhat tighter. Finally the last row and I could not lock the bar.

I asked the attendant if I could switch rows and he said they were all the same. I explained that I had already ridden the ride twice without a problem, but I don't think he believed me. I had to exit.

Luckily it was on Extra Hours night so the wait was only about 5 minutes.

I hope this helps some of my fellow large park patrons.

For the most part disney attractions are very roomy compared to other theme parks. This helps them speed up loading and unloading and in turn helps increase capacity per hour

Just rip-off the padding on the bar!

It appears to be what everybody else is doing!

(DISCLAIMER***this was not a slam on anyones God-given figures! This was a response to an earlier thread on the condition of the padding on the lap-bars after 3 weeks! NO FLAMES PLEASE!***)

Just to let you know, if you're in doubt as to whether or not you will fit into the Everest ride vehicle, there is a "test" vehicle near the exit so you can make a decision before you get in line. From what I hear, it's rather well set back from things, so you get a little bit of privacy.
