the giant dirt hill is still there and there's a larger chain link fence surrounding the construction areas

You wouldnt be able to tell. where the construction site is, it is out of guest and cast view. its situated near discovery river behind the monkey exhibit in asia, the giant dirt hill and chain link fence is just where ther attractions construction equipment is

some of the construction is within cast view. It all depends on where you work within AK

In other news, people touring Vekoma's factory in the Netherlands report seeing a mock up of the trains. It was described as having "very special features".

What on Earth!!! "Very special features"????? OMG what is Disney brewing for AK....it seems that everytime I hear something about E:E, the idea that this is going to be something great is emphasized in my mind. I just wonder what type of features could the trains have??? Anyone care to give a guess? :lookaroun

Could be only the mine train themeing...

Could be turret mounted machine guns for dealing with hostile yetis...

Nah...probably not.

Or...it could be the fact that the actual trains might have effects on them (making a sorta "rough" mine train feel without needed to "wobble the track" like BTMR...think along the lines of "Pooh...and the "bouncing")

Not positive...just taking a stab at it (Oh...maybe the "Yeti" does something to "knock" the train...(Avalanche, takes a swing at it))

That is a great idea and would allow for a smooth coaster during the drops yet would allow for roughness at appropriate times. Now if only it were true. As for what the "special features" are. At first I thought it must be the mine train themeing but then I realized that the ride is in such early stages of construction that there is no way the train is already themed. There must be something unique about the core of the train itself. Hmm, how interesting. :D

Apparently the mock up is obviously a mine train, even at this stage. One thing that stands out is that each car seats 6 passengers, rather than four.

At least on the mock up.

More train info coming in:
Each seat will have it's own lap bar, rather than sharing one with your co-passenger. The lap bars are similar to those Intamin has been putting on their Giga- and Rocket coasters, with hydrolics being used to keep them in place, rather than the old click-down style. This should tell us something about the thrill level of this ride, I think.

But remember, this is only the ptototype, and is subject to change.

maybe the seats have actually been moved around, so that people who ride can face each other, that also adds to the excitement, cus then people can see whats coming and others cant adding to the thrill, then the car goes backwards and the others can then see whats coming and the riders facing the other direction cant... did u get that?:hammer: so all the seats are facing on the iside of the car rather than all one way.

What does it tell us? It's going to be intense? I don't really know what Giga or Rocket coasters are. Or what the difference between an old style or hydrolic lap bar is and what it means. Please explain.

First, a giga coaster is any coaster in excess of 300ft.
A rocket coaster is a Intamin coaster which uses hydrolic power to launch the train at great speeds, like Xcelerator or Dragster.

Everest is neither of those, obviously.

Consider the seats on Big Thunder. Bench seats with a lap bar which is shared by two passengers. This is fine for tame, family mine train coasters. The lapbar sort of ratchets down into position depending on how big you are. If a big person and a child ride together, the child will be less restrained due to the space between them and the lap bar, causing them to slide from side to side, and float during negative-g maneuvers.

The new lapbars that were mentioned above are for individual seats, molded to each passenger, and not for bench seats. The bars come down to touch your lap without ratcheting, being held in place by hydrolic pressure inside the bar. (Doesn't Space Mountain have a version of these now?) This would lead me to believe that each passenger will have his own seat on Everest, and his own lapbar. (Like RnRC, only with lapbars rather than shoulder restraints.) This will hold each passenger more securely, allowing much more intense, thrilling maneuvers than an average mine train.

Of course, this is all speculation based on reports of the prototype train. All of this is subject to change, of course.:)
