It's more than opening a door. I don't mean simply walking up to where the Yeti is. Imagineers have said it would be a lengthy refurb. But yes, minimize my comments for your pleasure.

The Yeti has been removed and reinstalled without the ride missing an operating day. There is an access door, so it really is that easy.

Creating a new Yeti that doesn't destroy itself when it moves and has more safeguards in place because it's over guests will take a significant time, once they start it.

Replacing the old Yeti with the newly built one will be a one day switcheroo.

Development is long. Downtime is short.

Why torture yourselves with this "discussion". The Yeti has not worked almost since the ride opened. Disney is not going to fix it.
To think otherwise and discuss those possibilities is folly.

Yes, opening a roll-up door might take several seconds.

There is an access door, so it really is that easy.

I have tried to get a couple insiders to point out where the door itself is on the structure, but haven't had any luck. Could you do be a big favor and just circle here on this image which rolley door is the chosen one? From everything I've read, the yeti itself is somewhere under the un-themed portion of the warehouse?

i also love this thread and only wish some more meaningful conversation could happen about the yeti so that the WDW castmember assigned to monitor these boards will read and listen and hopefully pass on the info to gt the yeti fixed

The yeti is a machine and thus can, and has been, disassembled and removed before. The harder thing to remove is the unseen (during the ride) mechanisms that move the yeti like a giant puppet, but even those could be disassembled. The long-running rumor/legend that the mountain was built around the yeti and that the yeti can't be taken out without cutting the mountain open is very, very wrong and I wish it would stop being perpetuated.

And again a flurry of disinformation..... the animatronic figure isnt the problem. Its motion when in operation causes foundation damage.
