He's MUCH too curious... I've lost my trust in this animal guy...
He keeps on going and going and going...
Maybe the purpose of his life is making other people's life miserable...
Well, he certainly is persistent. I look toward it as an opportunity to teach and it's pretty easy for me to see it that way because I know that I'm not putting anything on the line by discussing things like this. If it were my job to know this stuff, I certainly wouldn't be as willing to share were I not given permission to do so.
For the first time in my life, the work I'm doing now requires that I not share its details with other people. I haven't signed an NDA or anything like that, but it's certainly apparent that my knowledge of our methodology would be considered a valuable asset to other companies.
Anyway, like I mentioned, I teach kids about science and engineering as a hobby, practically, so it's fun for me to try to interest people in understanding why a 112' drop may or may not result in a train speed of 50 MPH -- at least, way moreso than it's fun to just tell people the facts and move on.
So, animalking_1990, there's more to figuring out the train's final speed than simply knowing the height from which it drops. Train weight, coefficients of friction and other fun things need to be taken into account and these variables change with each manufacturer and, to a smaller extent, with each ride.
wannab@dis -- I'm not asking you to stop so much I was hoping that I might point out an alternative viewpoint that you may have not yet considered. That's all. Go on being curious all you'd like. I like it.
