Expedition Everest drop, in excess of 100ft!

Doesn't it go into the drop right after the second switch track and then into a swooping curve at the bottom of the drop? It should reach about 50 at the end of the drop and then maybe more in the curve downwards?

I have previouslly stated that I dont know the exact ride layout. As with much of the EE threads it was speculation.

As far as the aircraft Madison, thats what I was told from a friend of mine that is with CAP. As you seem to know your stuff about physics and engineering you may be entirely correct.

I can't know for certain without knowing the friction slope for the ride, but based on existing rides of similar size, no -- I do not believe 50-55 MPH to be an unreasonable number.

But based on existing rides with more than 100ft drops, they usually all have a max speed of about 55mph-60mph.

I don't understand why you are so hung up on the exact specs of EE. They have little impact on whether or not it is a hit or miss. The story, theme and combination of effects has the most impact. Hence the reason Disney attractions always seem to be better than a counterpart at another park. Also, whether it ends up going 55mph or 50mph will not make a noticeable difference in the experience.

In defense of their insatiable curiousity -- and it has been insatiable -- what difference does it make why they're interested in this information? Nobody has suggested that Everest's quality will be enhanced or diminished by its height or speed and, honestly, if someone feels that it may change based on that information, that's their prerogative.

There're people here who're claiming that they would be happy riding an 80' drop, but that 112' is just too much. They seem to be just as hung up on the stats as a certain someone else, but are on the receiving end of far less questioning.

I don't intend to be nasty -- but it just seems silly to me to go on and on questioning why someone wants this information when, in the end, it really doesn't affect you at all.

I'm curious why exact specs seem to be of such importance to them. In the end, my asking shouldn't affect you either.

He's MUCH too curious... I've lost my trust in this animal guy...

He keeps on going and going and going...

Maybe the purpose of his life is making other people's life miserable...

That is not true. I would appreciate it if you would refrain from making hurtful comments like that.

I never said I cared about the stats. It's just I find it odd that with a 112ft drop, the max speed is only 50 mph.
Why... why, why...

This seems to be the only thing you're able to do on this forum...

Who are you... But most of all WHAT are you...

I do hope you'll find all of your answers when you finally grow up...

Again, please stop with the negative comments.

Well, he certainly is persistent. I look toward it as an opportunity to teach and it's pretty easy for me to see it that way because I know that I'm not putting anything on the line by discussing things like this. If it were my job to know this stuff, I certainly wouldn't be as willing to share were I not given permission to do so.

For the first time in my life, the work I'm doing now requires that I not share its details with other people. I haven't signed an NDA or anything like that, but it's certainly apparent that my knowledge of our methodology would be considered a valuable asset to other companies.

Anyway, like I mentioned, I teach kids about science and engineering as a hobby, practically, so it's fun for me to try to interest people in understanding why a 112' drop may or may not result in a train speed of 50 MPH -- at least, way moreso than it's fun to just tell people the facts and move on.

So, animalking_1990, there's more to figuring out the train's final speed than simply knowing the height from which it drops. Train weight, coefficients of friction and other fun things need to be taken into account and these variables change with each manufacturer and, to a smaller extent, with each ride.

wannab@dis -- I'm not asking you to stop so much I was hoping that I might point out an alternative viewpoint that you may have not yet considered. That's all. Go on being curious all you'd like. I like it.

Then WHY do you keep on going trying to get the answers from everyone, and once you have them you keep doubting them...

So YES... you keep on going...

And if you're hurt by that, it's the result of your own curiousity and disbelieve...

Again, you always keep on questioning someone else's answers... and keep on doubting those who are friendly enough to give you any...

But you seem to love argueing, and making it look like you're innocent, so that you're being attacked... maybe if you wouldn't doubt so many anwers given by trustworthy people, you would be more respected...

Replying on this post will be useless, as from now you're in my ignore list and your name won't pop-up on my computer...

Have a Magical Day...

BTW, I just noticed, Thrawn's been banned!!! :sohappy:

Yeah...it turned into like, a statistics class or physics or whatever. (Never taken either so I don't know which one fits better lol)

The only 2 things I loved in this thread were given by Steve... The Statement about the drop, and the one about giving termination to Thrawn. :sohappy: :D
