I think they are counting the height inside the mountain also, the two highest points inside the mountain (trackwise, that is) is after both trackswitches. After the backwards section, you go up into a ice cave and sit there while trackswitch changes, so if you are in the back next to the engine, you are at 112 ft. And then they drop you and then you come out of the ice cave and then go outside and then drop 80 ft. I think the 80 ft drop is the part outside, but if you count inside then it is 112 ft. It is not one continuous drop, the train drops and picks up speed and then crosses the trackswitch and you go outside for the big portion of the drop. Here is a inside photo.

If it is not continuous, they can not say the "drop" is 112 ft. Like Steve said, the main drop is 112 ft from beginning of the drop to the bottom.

That's what I was saying earlier. .
They almost have to be counting from the top of the dead end, and counting the "double drop" portion as one drop.

I think he is just trying to explain that the gradient of the 'drop' or downward section, changes as you are on it, like gentle slope to big slope in one movement, but technically dropping in both. If that makes sense :D

Well...they CAN if they want to.

OK, anybody who is good at this sort of thing and has some time, here is a project:

Get a photo showing the entire drop.
Estimate the width of the track at roughly 3 ft.

Use that measurement to estimate the height of the drop.

Didn't Thrawn already do that?

Why can't they? They can say the Yeti is real and will eat at least two riders per train. Its an attraction. In the marketing for Dinosaur, it says you go back in time and save the last dino. So saying a 32 foot drop and a 80 foot drop with a sort flat between them is one drop is well within the realm of marketing.

OK I'll need a Republic gunship and I will force free fall to the site measure the drop with a Bothan range finder and Jedi mind trick my way out of jail.
I've got a laser range finder and I'm making a trip to WDW in the next few weeks. You have given me an idea!

I looked at that picture for the first time just now and I'm already nervous about riding it! lol

I hate going up the lifts...that's the worst part for me.

But the big drop is a while after the lift, you wouldn't have to worry about going down the drop right away.

I wonder how long the ride will be:confused:

The drop isn't gonna be the problem...it's just the going up part that makes me nervous...looking down and seeing how high up I am. I'm definitely not a big fan of heights...yet I'll go on just about every coaster out there:D . Minus Sheikra at Busch Gardens...I dunno if I'll ever get the courage to go on that one.

How do the switch tracks work anyway? Does it stop the train while the tracks switch to a different one? But won't it lose speed like that?

The train has to stop to change direction, right? :)
