Expedition Everest broken track effect removed?

Prayer flags are suppose to tatter and fade. As they are worn by the wind and other elements, that's the prayers being lifted up to the heavens. If there is even a piece of a prayer flag left, it is supposed to be left, because some of the prayer remains. Throwing away a partially-worn prayer flag is the equivalent of throwing someone's prayers away. Of course, the flags around Disney's Asia don't have actual prayers on them so as to not be offensive. They're just printed with animals and various symbols. Still, the tattered flags are correct show.

When I saw the new ones in the video, I thought about this as well, but hesitated to say anything. The new ones just look too new to fit in with the story. They should have been "aged" a bit before putting them up. I know in time they will, but right now they just look a bit out of place.
Looking back at some of the videos from when it first opened, they appeared to be properly aged. Somebody just messed this one up by being lazy.

Seems like bird-on-a-stick was synchronized with the trains when E:E first opened. You would stop and it would pop up and do its bird call before you went backwards.

No, I won't be riding this until broken track is back. That's terrifying.
I'm afraid I don't understand how the track in it's current condition is even a tiny bit scarier then the old track. If the fear is that you would go shooting off the track, wouldn't you have done that anyway, even with the old track in place. Educate me! It all seems the same to me.

And one of the few times that I agree that all affects that were deemed important enough to have in the opening of EE should still be working. The Yeti, I can understand and allow that it is a huge problem and not something that is fixed with crazy glue and string, but, the bird and the tracks need to be back soon. Otherwise they are closing the attraction down one affect at a time. Before you know it, it will be a walk through attraction.

This is general upkeep. When I rode it at a Partners preview, the Yeti looked incredible but that was over seven years ago, nearly eight in fact, Disney really should have had this issue corrected years ago. Shameful really.

Nope all the rest are still old.
Actually, the rest of the prayer flags around Asia are replaced constantly, because they are supposed to fade. Having some new and some faded is correct show. The only problem was that in the broken track scene, the flags were completely gone. Those flags are probably a bit more diffiocult to replace, so all of them had to be replaced at once.

Best video showing his size and full range of motion is this Discovery Channel special.
(Fast-forward to about 4:25 for the start of the Yeti AA section)

(sigh)

Ughh I get so depressed every time I watch that special. I'm forever grateful that I got to ride it so much back in the day and become so familiar with him when he still worked.

The yeti was such an incredibly impressive figure that really did scare the crap out of you when it came swooping down. He lunged and swiped at you so damn close that you would swear he was going to hit the train.

So would the assumption be that it's the boom the Yeti is attached to that has an unstable foundation below it and this is why the Yeti cannot be fixed? Implying it's not the Yeti itself, per se, that is broken, but the power behind the Yeti. That boom is massive, I can see how it requires a substantial base to stand on and be affixed to.

Correct. That is the story I heard.

Highly unlikely Yeti is being fixed:

From Wikipedia

The yeti has not been in full "A-mode" operation since a few months after the ride's opening,[16] when its framing split, causing significant risk of catastrophic malfunction if it were operated. It currently only operates in the alternative "B-mode", which is limited to a strobe-light effect designed to give the appearance of movement, earning it the nickname "Disco Yeti". The problem was caused by damage to the yeti's concrete base structure, which is unlikely to be repaired until a major refurbishment in the distant future, because the design limits access to the yeti without major disassembly of the superstructure.[17]

Because wikipedia is such a concrete source of information and all...

And Wikipedia - the site that anyone can edit, is always correct ;)

Disney can fix the yeti if they wish to, plans have already been drawn up to do so. It just involves a lot of $$.

I'd like to start a kickstarter fund, but I am sure the money would go elsewhere at Disney.

unstable foundation?
as in what? cracked? sinkhole? corrosion?

The concrete base that holds the Yeti's "sled" is cracked. Disney felt that continued use may cause the yeti to fail and injure guests. (The Yeti sits atop a moving sled that thrusts him out toward the coaster where he would roar, lean down while "holding" on with his hand, and swipe at the passing car with his other hand.)
