Regarding Harry Potter, the initial leak seems to have come from an executive from another theme park claiming that Disney had the Harry Potter rights.

Is it implausible? Maybe, but not impossible. Remeber, WB does not own the rights to the Harry Potter books or characters. JK Rowling does, and she may have thought (rightly so) that Six Flags would not do Harry the justice he deserves.

Granted, I don't think the ride belongs at EPCOT, even if it goes into the UK. This thing, if it happens, should go in the Studios. ..that's what they were built for.

Actually, the initial leak came from me. ;)

The Universal executive got it from another source, totally un-related from my own.

I think the oddest thing about a Harry Potter attraction would be the fact that it is a non-disney film. I know all of MGM is licensed property, but nothing is as massive as Harry Potter (sorry star wars fans).

And Harry potter seems to dictate an entire universe of its own... one attraction plopped somewhere would stick out.

Can you guys get me up to speed? Disney is of course known for putting innovative twists on its rides to make them unique. I know Expedition: EVEREST's story and that it will be a mountain, but I also heard some rumors a while back about the rollercoaster changing or something...like being a standard rollercoaster and then changing to an inverted rollercoaster? First, has anyone else heard that? Second, what exactly is Disney doing with this ride to make it, well, DISNEY?

The twist is you are going forward, then backward, then forward again.

Anyone else care to join me on doubting this source. They have Harry Potter listed as a potential attracton. Harry Potter is a WB property which is closely tied to Six Flags.

disney bought the rights for theme park attractions

Disney does have the rights for Starwars and they did not make the movies.

Of course it is kinda funny since the author of Harry Potter did not want Disney to make it because she thought they could ruin the movie and the liscence...

Not even close. It's a mine train. A cutting edge, state of the art, souped up mine train.

Extensive themeing.
Backwards and forwards movement.
Special effects.
One big mother of a yeti.

well somebody has them, i hope its disney because its a great property

See, I hope they don't for the simple reason that they could never be well used. Someone would complain. There would be way to much conflict over the outcome. Disney doesn't need anymore strife right now.

BTW, where in NYC you from?

Harry Potter may be up for debate as you see it. I'm saying it's not debatable. I'm saying it's fact. Take it as you like. :)

I have a question. Who was the person I met at Mission: Space last June who goes here?

I think I met several people who go here.

And back on topic, forget about Harry Potter. It's the least entertaining idea. I want an american version of Journey into the Center of the Earth.

Go Bill! You tell them how it is! Do you have any further info on what the ride will be like?

So you sat in on the deal?

All I can find on line is mere speculation, with talk of a $100m price tag. Seems pretty steep for an initial layout -- especially when 'confirmation' came out 9 months ago and there has been no talk of an actual attraction going up.

 For those of you who needed help, THATS how you make yourself look stupid. (refering to my asking about an inverted to standard rollercoaster) I can be so dumb sometimes.

Thanks for the replies guys. Can't wait to get on that one! :D :king:

Wouldn't that be cool though? Inverted to standard... impossible to design, but awesome potential.

Actually, you could kind of do it. Take a single rail track... something that is a pipe. The wheels would fit inside the pipe with connections to the cart through a slice in the pipe.... hold on, i'm going to draw this and then post it...

No way, the Star Wars franchise has lasted almost 30 years with still a massive following. Let's see if Harry Potter is still as popular 30 years from now.

As I see it, with a car that has two bars coming out is it which can rotate around the car... and with a hollow bar for a track... you can have a ride the switches from normal to inverted.
