We will be on the Dream the first week of September aand this is our first Disney Cruise. We are three adults and would like to know what to expect on this stop. We would like to spend the day on the adult beach and maybe bike around the island. What should we expect as to food,drink,pace.....maybe hidden opportunities.

Expect Paradise.:)

No, CC is definitely my favorite island ever. It's so peaceful and relaxing. The adult beach is great.

The adult beach doesn't have a snorkeling lagoon, although you can snorkel there, but if you want to do a lot of snorkeling you probably want to go visit the family beach for a little while.

There is a restaurant there so you don't have to walk all the way back for lunch.

There will be bartenders who walk up and down the beach with drinks for sale.

Bikes are a great way to see the island.

We'll be on our first cruise in mid-September on the Dream. I was really hoping to run the Castaway 5k but I'm concerned the heat will kill me even at 9 am. Is it typically breezy in the mornings? I know it generally is at the beach in northwest Florida. I've never been to the Bahamas, tho. :D

Ooh, that's kind of hard to say. We were there once in the beginning of September and I do remember it being very warm in the morning. I had on a teri cloth coverup and I think I had to take it off before we got to the beach!

Dh was very sweaty after running the 5k, but that's the norm after he runs.:)

Food -- since there are all adults in your party, I would highly recommend eating at the cookout at Serenity Bay (the adult beach). It's mostly the same food as Cookie's and Cookie's Too on the family beach; but it's much less crowded and SO much quieter -- and you can get a steak there. Plenty of shade as well in the seating area.

Drink -- There is a bar just steps away from the adult beach as well (and the family beach, too, now that I think about it), if that's where you'll spend most of your time. And, of course, if a few steps is just too darn far, then there are crew members who wander the beach to take your order. You can get water and soft drinks at Cookie's for free.

Hidden opportunities -- Since you mentioned snorkeling, there are several hidden treasures underwater in the snorkeling area. A bike ride is nice (the trail is about 3 miles long; paved and flat, very easy to do) and while it's not really hidden, there is an opportunity along the trail that very few people bother to find. It's a high observation tower, just about halfway through the bike path. You can see practically the whole island. It's a great place for photos of the ship.

Have a great time!

Castaway Cay is one awesome place. Food is great and there is plenty to do. We did the bike ride this time and it was fun but take along a water or too. At the lookout tower and at the point past serenity bay and the cabanas there is nothing and its great. There are also alot of "birds" that can only be seen from the tower. Look for the ones in the outhouse. Nothing better than grabing a ice cream cone and jumping back into your innertube and floating out in the clear blue warm water to enjoy it.

Thanks so much for all of the comments. We are excited and can't wait for the first week of September. Having the bar close and shade is my idea of a good time.

While at CC is everything open on the boat?? Pool Aqua-Duck, places to eat??? We are not beach folks and I plan on heading out and taking a look around but not staying. I would much rather sit by the pool on the boat. Alaska is more our speed but wanted to try crusing fisrst before we spend as much as you do for Alaska!!

Yes! Everything is open onboard and pretty quiet too!:)

I don't think the shops are open on the ship. I can't remember the legal logistics of it all but I'ms ure they don't open until the ship is back out in international waters.

That was my first thought, too, but since the port is actually owned by Disney. . .

Yes! That's the ownly reason I wasn't positive.

That is the case for other ports, so I would assume it's true for CC.
