Back then they still dreamed big. It was still the era of monorail expansion remember. That seems like a tremendous waste of money versus other options.
But maybe that's why they didn't build it.
Let me do some digging in the archive.

The sunglass stores in Disney are owned by Luxottica, parent company of lenscrafters. I doubt there is enough demand for a prescription eye glass place on property.I had my glasses destroyed while traveling last Summer. A LensCrafters would be a blessing.![]()

Circa 1990-91. Interestingly it was the same period the Med Resort was being pursued again.
Anyway,

YepOh wait, was this a ground based trolley and not a gondola system?
That makes more sense if so.
My memory is it was light rail, at grade but elevated in parts to avoid grade crossingsYep
The word “trolley” is a big vague. Though I’m still digging through to see if it was all at grade or a mix.
Hey Marni, how close were we ever to getting a monorail expansion? I'm surprised it never happened under Eisner/Wells, I'm assuming the last time it was ever seriously considered was in the 90s?Back then they still dreamed big. It was still the era of monorail expansion remember.

Close-ish. The plans were drawn. Noises were made. Early to mid 90s it still had momentum. But no green light.Hey Marni, how close were we ever to getting a monorail expansion? Ah I see, thank you. I knew it would never happen under Iger, and especially not now under Chapek, but was also surprised Eisner never went for it and gave it the green light considering he expanded Disney World so muchClose-ish. Any concept art of what the trolley would look like in existence?Circa 1990-91. Interestingly it was the same period the Med Resort was being pursued again.

They keep looking for alternative and cheaper ideas, but truly the best scenario goes back to expanding the monorail line...from the yet to be built rail station for Brightline, to Disney Springs, connecting to Epcot line with stops at Riviera, and Boardwalk . Than a second loop from Disney Springs with stops at the other resorts to link everything with efficient, always running transportation.
How about a Wahlburgers? Ate at their AC location…excellent burgersThey should add a WhataBurger. But, I'd settle for a Sonic!
I’ve had In n Out…as a Jersey boy, not much better than Checkers IMOI'd actually prefer Disney Springs or City Walk get an "In n Out". At the very least it would stop Californians from bragging about it.
My DD & I drove her from NJ to college in Northern California in August…I heard SO much about it, I had to try it…Cali hype!! I’ll keep my NJ pizza and White Castle aka Rat Burgers…they can have their Mexican and In n Out lolOoooooo, that's doesn't sound good at all, I was expected something God like.
